I'm a huge fan of both shows, but in the end I have to go with The Colbert Report as the better of the two shows. Colbert makes me laugh on a daily basis. Hey, see how I worked Daily into that? ;D So, which show do you peeps prefer? The Daily Show or The Colbert Report?

Grrrrr. Stephen Colbert is going on a 2 week vacation, starting today. No new episodes till he returns. Bah!! (http://i74.photobucket.com/albums/i266/Chiprocks1/Smilies/0%20All%20Smilies/HTL_mad.gif)
-
I think both shows are hilarious. If I had to choose only one, though, I would go with the Colbert Report.
-
Originally, I thought only The Colbert Report would be a no-show for 2 weeks. But The Daily Show also has gone dark. Ugh, I'm going through serious withdrawals from both shows. I really feel ill. I need my daily dose of the report.
-
So so so soooooooo happy that both shows are back now. Man, it's been a long 2 weeks with no laughing.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ycqBrPrQPDs
Promo Spot from earlier this week. Funny episode.
-
I've noticed a pattern with both The Daily Show and The Colbert Report when they come back from a week long vacation and longer. Both shows usually suck on the first day back. Yesterdays Daily Show was horrible and one of the worst episodes I've seen from Jon Stewart. And last nights Colbert Report was an average one for Stephen Colbert. Certainly not one of his best.
Solution: No more vacations!!!!

As told by Matt Damon to Jon Stewart on The Daily Show last night. I'm recounting this as best as I can from memory. Hopefully it comes across just as funny.
Matt: My father told me a story about a Grizzly Bear back in 1986...almost 25 years ago when he went up to Alaska. He was being shown around Alaska by a Guide and he noticed him carrying a .44 Magnum in a holster, but the sight on the gun was filed down. My father asked the Guide if the gun was for bears and the Guide said it was. My father asked him if he could ask a question about the gun? The Guide said "Sure". Why is the sight filed down? The Guide said "After I shoot the bear, it will hurt a lot less when the bear shoves the gun up my ass".

Stephen Colbert & James Taylor
This was one of the best episodes this season so far. What was already a kick ass episode got bumped to another level with James Taylor on stage. Great duet between him and Colbert. And let's not forget Carrie Rebora Barratt. She seemed to be having a good time and I certainly wouldn't object to her giving me a tour around the museum.

Mandy Patinkin Vs. Stephen Colbert (The Colbert Report - December 12, 2012) This was f*cking awesome! You rarely see anyone actually go on the show and have something to say. Whether you agree or disagree with his opinions, it's refreshing to see something new and unexpected on the show. You could tell that Colbert was taken aback and really didn't know how to respond to it. Even his "joke retorts" fell flat.

Paul McCartney - The Colbert Report - Wed, Jun 12, 2013
What a fantastic and fun episode. Great interview and performances by Paul in this hour-long episode. Only the second episode to get the extended treatment.
-
I haven't watched Colbert in so long... now I have SO many episodes and interviews to go back on. Serves me right.
-
Start with McCartney's episode first. F*ck doing them in order. This one is fun and funny from start to finish.
-
I don't have Hulu Plus but I really wish there was a Daily Show/Colbert Roku app so I could watch them on my TV instead of on my laptop (though I do like having something to watch while soaking up sun in the living room-- I can't hear the living room TV too well, even with my hearing aid).
-

There is my son. Go and grab the Plex (http://pennycan.createaforum.com/apps/plex/msg14166/#msg14166) App. Within this awesome program, they have both The Colbert Report and The Daily Show Channels. It's what I use to watch them.

Does Plex cost anything?
Nope. Free. It's also the App that I use to watch all my Rev3 shows as well. Very robust program with a great interface and menu.
-
That's pretty cool. I have a stand-alone for Rev3, though. Which I like (I have about 20 "Channels" but I really only ever watch four. But there's so much on every one of the channels.

Lemme ask you, does the Plex app show the full extra-length interviews as well? THAT'S the big question I have.
-
Lemme ask you, does the Plex app show the full extra-length interviews as well? THAT'S the big question I have.
No. Even the show itself on cable doesn't offer that. For bonus stuff you have to hit his website, which is the whole point of the bonuses.

Stephen Colbert on The O'Reilly Factor
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QquTUR9nbC4
I was watching a bunch of random clips on YouTube last night and meant to post this blast from the past. I ended up "wasting" about an hour of my time re-watching old stuff with Colbert, Stewart, Carell and Gervais. Damn you YouTube! Damn you to hell!! As for this clip, I love how Colbert is able to make O'Reilly look like a complete idiot on his own damn show. But then again, he really doesn't need Colbert to do that for him. He does just find on his own looking stupid.
-
The Colbert Report (Tue, Sep 24, 2013)
Quite possible the greatest episode ever. The opening bit with Stephen Colbert and Jon Stewart was awesome. The only way you could possibly close out the show would be to have Metallica rockin' the joint, which they did. I was crackin' up at the sight of Priest Jim Martin introducing the band and then throwing up the devil horns to drive home the point that it was Metallica. Hahaha. Totally caught me off guard for sure.

I just caught The Arsenio Hall Show. Yes, a little be late to the revival. I knew he was back on the air, but I thought the show was going to be more along the lines of Montel or Maury for some reason. So, I was kinda tripping seeing that his set and tone is very much in line with the original talk show. It's not 100% the same, but it's a lot closer than I thought it would be. Watching tonight's MLK episode was good. Reminds me of the time I got to go see the live taping yeeeeeeears ago.
-
I just watched last nights episode with P u s s y Riot. I thought the interview in particular was damn entertaining and I think they helped themselves a great deal in getting people on board with what they are doing. I can guarantee you that the majority of people out there don't have a clue who or what they stand for other than knowing the name itself. Colbert definitely wanted to focus the bulk of the show on them. So much so that I can't ever recall any guest getting two interview segments and the first segment to open the show was incredibly short so as to get more face time with them.
-
Watching The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon right now. Something I very rarely did with Jay Leno (who I just can not stand). Anyway, love the opening gag where Jimmy looks into the camera and says "to the one that thought I would never get the Tonight Show, you owe me a hundred bucks". Naturally you think he is talking to a childhood friend since this line has been used countless times. So, out walks Robert De Niro with $100 and drops it on Jimmy's desk. It doesn't end there. It's a parade of some big heavy hitters from the likes of Seth Rogen, Lady Gaga, Tina Fey, Lindsay Lohan, Mike Tyson and more. Funny stuff. Having Stephen Colbert come out last and dumping a $100 in pennies was.....perfect.
The History of Hip Hop Dance Moves with Jimmy and Will Smith was very funny. But I think the best moment so far was U2 on the top of the GE Building performing with a Drum Line (which sounded damn cool). But it was the scene of the band and the fans rocking out with the New York Skyline in the background as the sun was setting that made it spectacular to watch.
-
I saw a couple clips, looked pretty awesome (I didn't see the Aerosmith bit, I can understand why that wouldn't be online). I couldn't help but think, though, how small the set looked. And just now I read this interesting article on Vulture, Late-Night Wars Now Just a Battle For Survival (http://www.vulture.com/2014/02/late-night-wars-jimmy-fallon-jimmy-kimmel-survival.html). I've been divorced from TV for a while now (at least three years and maybe even five), but I had no idea that the situation was this bad.

Just now getting around to checking out Late Night with Seth Meyers debut via On Demand. Watching the opening monoluge at the moment and it's.....HORRIBLE! Joke after joke dropping like lead balloons. I will stick around for Amy Poehler's spot. Beyond that, I don't think I will waste more of my time on this.
-
Yeah, I bailed after Amy's interview. I like Seth, but he needs a lot of work. The show needs work. I just didn't like anything about what I did see (30 minutes total).
-
Seth did well to invite these two on his show...
http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=5J_tk25AYVQ
Not sure which I like more, the idea of Sir Ian as the host or Sir Patrick as the bandleader (he looked like he was having so much fun with that).
-
So, I just got finished watching The Jimmy Kimmel Show from last night. It started off great with Guillermo Rodriguez on the Red Carpet, basically getting drunk with stars by getting them to do shots with him. By the end, he was smashed. It was a very funny bit. But the big get for this episode was Rob Ford's guest spot. I'm not a fan of the guy. How can I be? I'm not from Canada. But he is a fascinating character to watch, given all of his oddball moments. So, I was looking forward to the interview as I was curious to see what he would say.
Having just watched it, I'm embarrassed in that Jimmy chose to basically make fun of him on the air for 3 full segments. It was brutal. He really couldn't do anything to defend himself and it was sad that he just sat there and took it. It was akin to watching a Ringmaster (Kimmel) making a monkey (Ford) jump through hoops. It's not till the very end of the 3rd segment that resembles anything like an "interview" and that only lasted 20 seconds. Wasted opportunity and the end results made Jimmy look really bad in my eyes.

David Letterman Announces His Retirement from the Late Show

IGN News : Colbert Announced as David Letterman's Replacement
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Se9zL9BXDpw
Not at all surprised by the news that Colbert is being tapped as Letterman's replacement. I somewhat against this though. I love The Colbert Report and its format and really want to see it continue with him at the helm. Whatever happens, I will tune in wherever Colbert goes.
-
Now it looks like Craig Ferguson is going to be replaced when his contract is up. (http://uproxx.com/tv/2014/04/so-now-that-we-have-the-late-show-sorted-out-whats-going-on-with-the-late-late-show/) But I could TOTALLY see him replacing Colbert's slot on Comedy Central. Craig does some of my favourite interviews, he's very inventive with little money, and I think a shorter show (half hour instead of a full hour) could really refine what he's got. PLUS he's super-patriotic, so you've got that base covered, you know he can talk and opine about the news and current events in an interesting way. I would hope Comedy Central considers that, I would hate to see CraigyFerg leave TV.
-
I've only watched a handful of Ferguson's show, but in each case, I have enjoyed his style a lot. He's just on way too late. It's on the rare occasion I would stumble across his show. Having him on CC in a better time slot would do him a great service and the people would definitely benefit from it.

That was a GREAT segment. I'd been hearing a few little things, but that was a real eye-opener.
On the lighter side, more Wikibear... my god, this one might be one of my favourite sketches they've done. I've never seen Conan laugh this hard. I'm really curious as to how the Wikibear company feels about these bits, either it's terrible for them because it shows their toy constantly breaking down or it's the best publicity they could have hoped for (I'd never even heard of the toy until they started doing this).

Yea, saw this. Laughing but crying.

John Oliver's just kicking so much *ss lately... and I'm so happy that all his stuff is on Youtube... lest someone else put it on Youtube instead (like whoever puts Real Time up).

Anyone catch the latest episode of The Colbert Report? It was awesome. It was a tribute of sorts to Richard Nixon and the entire episode was shot and constructed to look like it was taped in the 70's. The set, the clothes, the graphics and even down to Colbert's sideburns and chain smoking on air was vintage stuff.

Stephen Colbert Final Show w/ friends - We'll Meet Again EPIC!!!!
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wUy1-JakJtE
A partial list of the folks who showed up in person to sing the old standard “We’ll Meet Again” with Colbert: Randy Newman (on the piano, natch), Jon Stewart (of course), Bryan Cranston, Willie Nelson, Mandy Patinkin, Tom Brokaw, Neil deGrasse Tyson, Big Bird, Cyndi Lauper, Sam Waterston, Katie Couric, Gloria Steinem, Cookie Monster, James Franco, Michael Stipe, Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, Barry Manilow, Jeff Daniels, Andy Cohen, Jeff Tweedy of Wilco, Patrick Stewart, Ariana Huffington, George Lucas, Alan Alda, New Jersey senator Cory Booker, Elijah Wood, former New York governor Eliot Spitzer, Tim Meadows, Keith Olbermann, Shane Smith, Ken Burns, Mark Cuban, Paul Krugman, Mike Huckabee, Grover Norquist, and Henry Kissinger. Vince Gilligan, still being held captive in Colbert’s basement, joined via video; so did Bill Clinton (tweeting with the account Colbert built for him), and a troop of soldiers in Afghanistan, and Colbert’s Latino alter ego Esteban Colberto, and J.J. Abrams, and Smaug the dragon, and an astronaut running on the C.O.L.B.E.R.T. treadmill in space.

Stephen Colbert Final Show w/ friends - We'll Meet Again EPIC!!!!
Absolutely EPIC. I knew he would have something special lined up, but even I had no clue just how special it would be. I'm already going through withdrawals. The Colbert Report is my daily fix and now it's gone. I hope that Comedy Central keeps his show On Demand so that I can at least revisit old episodes. I would love it if they would start from the very beginning and air every single episode. Looking forward to seeing what he does with The Late Show.

It's the last real time off the dude's going to have for a LONG time. He's going to enjoy it. When does Dave's show end, btw?

I think it's either March or April.

That's a HUGE gap in the CBS schedule, what are they gonna do with it?
-
Rerun movies or some sh*t.
-
Man, a movie on TV every weeknight would be kinda awesome, when's the last time network TV showed movies on a frequent basis? Back when VHS was still expensive so you still had to rent, it felt like there was a mainstream movie on network every Sunday. I remember commercials for "the network television premiere" of some movie that was in theaters maybe a year ago.

Jon Stewart Leaving 'The Daily Show' (https://tv.yahoo.com/blogs/tv-news/jon-stewart-leaving-the-daily-show-000030699.html)
What the f*ck! Wrong thread, I know. But this wasn't something I was expecting to see for quite some time.
-
The new host of the Daily Show? Brian Williams.
Kidding.
You know, a couple years ago this would seem like devastating news, but we've seen that the show can work without him. John Oiliver crushed it so hard that he got his own series on HBO. Jason Jones and Sam Bee did a great job recently when Stewart was sick, I could see them becoming the new anchors and giving the show a whole different energy. The show has a ton of staff and commentators so I'm sure they're already putting together some kind of battle plan.
-
Well, I hope they actually promote from within. If they went elsewhere to find a new host, I think they'd be shooting themselves in the foot. If Stewart stays on as a Producer, it's more likely someone from within will get the gig. If he is washing his hands entirely and the CC Brass has final say, things could be drastically different. I know how people like to make change just for the sake of making change to justify their paychecks.
-
Considering how many names came out of the Daily Show, I think they'd be fools not to promote from within. I'll even bet that Stewart has people in mind, he doesn't seem like the kind of person who would quit until he knew everyone else was ready to carry on without him.
Think of the possibilities right from the current crop:
* Jason Jones and Samantha Bee: they took over a while ago (the Oct 7 2014 episode), it was a last minute substitution (JS was throwing up like crazy) and they were good. It was cute, different, but it could be real entertaining. They're the most senior after Stewart, so it seems like a foregone conclusion. But let's look at some other people:
* Rob Riggle: he seems to play more of a character on the show, and that works for Colbert, but that show is centered around one person while TDS is more of a group thing.
* Aasif Mandvi: now i can totally picture Aasif having the same go-get-em attitude as Jon Stewart, he seems like the natural person to take over if you want that same kind of energy on the show. But the question is: do they want that same energy? Are they losing something by taking him out of the field?
* Olivia Munn: I can't really see it, I like her fine but she's never really made me laugh the few few times she's actually been on the show. I'd rather see her do more movies and shows and be a proper actress.
* Trevor Noah: Now he could be interesting, I know he's the newest one but he could bring a great outsider perspective on everything, sort of like how John Oliver does, but without that overdignified regal snobbish air that Oliver plays into so wonderfully. Plus, that accent, like butter.
I'm sure I'm forgetting a bunch of other contributers, but they're the ones who seem most likely. Maybe they'll give them all a week and see who the audience likes.
And here's an out-of-left field suggestion: Craig Ferguson. Super patriotic, stand-up, long history of hosting with interesting interviews... I could see it happening in some parallel universe.
-
The most inspired casting coup would be getting David Letterman to take over TDS. ;D
-
Do you watch the Comedy Central, Paul?
It feels like the half-life of these hosts is getting smaller and smaller, Carson might be an outlier having been on for decades, but Craigy Ferg was only 10 years, Stewart only 15, Colbert was, what, 7? It seems to get smaller and smaller.
-
It's getting smaller because there are so many more opportunities elsewhere, which forces them to sign shorter contracts and don't get locked in. Did you know that every time Colbert renegotiated his contract, it was always based off of what Letterman did with his contract. It was a very smart move on his part so that when it came time for Letterman to retire, Colbert would be free and clear to move to CBS, which is what he has been planning on all this time.

Article on the Daily Beast: Why The Anchor Chair is not worth saving (http://www.thedailybeast.com/articles/2015/02/13/the-anchor-chair-is-not-worth-saving.html). On the surface it's about Brian Williams, but really it's about how shows like The Daily Show have subverted the news and made actual change, and illuminates a big reason why Stewart will be missed so much, because it's hard to imagine his replacement being able to be such a force to be contended with (okay, that last part was my reaction).

I just discovered Trevor Noah on Netflix a few months back. Great Personality and a funny funny man. Had no idea his reputation was considered this high.
25 things you need to know about Trevor Noah, new ‘Daily Show’ host
(http://www.timeslive.co.za/Feeds/ipad_images/2013/11/24/ttp12trevor18-17-07-2013-18-07-04-183-.jpg/ALTERNATES/crop_630x400/TTP12TREVOR18-17-07-2013-18-07-04-183-.jpg)
It's okay if you don't know who Trevor Noah is. But the South African comedian just plucked to replace Jon Stewart on “The Daily Show” does have more than 2 million fans on Facebook. Just sayin'.
So here are 25 things you need to know about Noah right now:
1. He's a 31-year-old standup comedian who grew up in a South African township under apartheid.
2. He was "born a crime," as he puts it. His mother was black, his father was white, and in South Africa in 1984 their marriage was illegal. His mother was fined and jailed. They stayed in South Africa anyway, he said, to continue being irritants to the system.
3. His first performance breakthrough was in a South African soap opera, "Isidingo." He was 18.
4. He then became a radio DJ and hosted music awards and reality shows in South Africa.
5. He began focusing on comedy around 2007 and has gotten several boosts from British comedian Eddie Izzard.
6. He was the first South African comedian on both "The Tonight Show" (2012) and "Late Night With David Letterman" (2013).
7. His first "Daily Show" appearance was on Dec. 4.
8. He's taller than Jon Stewart. Many are.
9. On his first "Daily Show" appearance, he joked that he was hesitant to visit America because of dangers from "your cops and your Ebola."
10. He also said, "You know what African mothers tell their children? 'Be thankful for what you have. There are fat children starving in Mississippi.'"
11. He often jokes about race, including the absurdity of his parents' situation. He says his parents couldn't be seen together with him on the street, so his father would wave from across the street, like a creepy pervert.
12. He often jokes about how little the rest of the world knows about Africa. In one standup bit, he tells a California surfer girl that he doesn't surf and she replies, "In Africa, do you have waves?"
13. He can become animated as a standup, but his "Daily Show" style has been deadpan.
14. He loves to take selfies.
15. He loves taking pictures of things like frozen bicycles and dogs with purple socks.
16. He posts frequently on social media, including Twitter (@trevornoah) and Facebook.
17. "If PlayStation was smart, they'd get Brian Williams to be their spokesman — 'PS4. So real, you'll think you were there,'" he posted on Feb. 7.
NOV. 30, 2011 FILE PHOTO. Brad Barket/AP
Jon Stewart announced earlier this year that he would leave "The Daily Show," though no date has been set.
18. His standup shows all over the world routinely sell out.
19. His fantasy trip, he told Interview, is a roller coaster tour. "If they go, 'Your chair spins while it does a 360-degree loop going backwards through a sort of somersault,' that's my ride."
20. The purpose of comedy is to make people laugh, he told Interview. "Anything else is a bonus."
21. He says he never deliberately offends anyone with his comedy. He did, however, take some flak after South African athlete Oscar Pistorius was arrested for shooting his girlfriend when he tweeted, "And the Oscar goes to - jail!"
22. His riff on hip-hop includes the line that "back in the day, it was about challenging the establishment.…Nowadays it's more about cough syrup and strippers."
23. He doesn't reveal much about his private life, saying he's been a gypsy who mostly travels alone. In his routines, he refers to ex-girlfriends.
24. He has a pinned tweet from February at the top of his Twitter account: “Often, people who can do, don’t because they’re afraid of what people that can’t do will say about them doing.”
25. After Monday's announcement, he posted, "No one can replace Jon Stewart. But together with the amazing team at 'The Daily Show,' we will continue to make this the best damn news show!"

The Final David Letterman episode was great. I found it both funny and touching. Julia Louise Dreyfus had the BEST joke of the night and Jerry Seinfeld's reaction was f*cking priceless!! Having The Foo Fighters close out the show, playing Dave's favorite song was fitting.

The Daily Show reacts to Donald Trump announcing his bid for presidency (http://uproxx.com/tv/2015/06/daily-show-trump-presidency/)
Holy **** this was funny. I must have watched this three times in a row, "America's Id is running for President!" I am gonna miss Stewart so god-d*mn much (six weeks left, baby) because of stuff like this. Everyone's taking shots at Trump, much deservedly so, even Neil Young is annoyed (ever notice that these Republicans tend to not clear the music they want to use?).
I wonder how long this nonsense is gonna last... didn't he run for President before? I remember a skit from SNL from, it must have been 2000, with Darrell Hammond going on about all the changes he'd make when he's in charge. I can't even call this a publicity stunt because... how much more visible can he be? A huge chunk of Republican candidates just seem to be doing this to become visible, there's money to be made this way. But Trump really can't gain anything from this, can he? Is it really just vanity? Isn't that kind of insane?
Honestly, you know what this reminds me of? There was gonna be a movie where Rodney Dangerfield was going to be President. I can't help but think that Trump is gonna do the same insane sh*t that Rodney would have done in the movie.
-
Wow... The comedy do write itself, doesn't it.
-
Holy cow, it looks as if The Donald paid actors to attend his announcement (https://medium.com/@GoAngelo/donald-trump-hired-paid-actors-to-attend-presidential-launch-event-7c65e8fadea0). I sincerely hope this in some small way helps to torpedo his entire endeavor.
-
I think he'll torpedo sooner than later. Fact is, I'm not sure why that announcement didn't do it.
-
Isn't this like the 4th or 5th time Trump has run? Doesn't he always torpedo his chances with every "announcement". This is just another PR stunt.

The Oreo/Trump skit was f*cking hilarious. VINTAGE Colbert indeed! He may have "stopped" playing the Colbert character, but he's still there. I think for segments like this, we will see that character alive and well. Overall I found his debut on the Late Show to be great. The opening bit was great as well, topped off with an unexpected cameo by Jon Stewart which was fantastic. Never saw that coming. Speaking of Jon, I had no idea he is Executive Producer. I wonder if this was really the main reason why he left the Daily Show since producing a show like this on a Big Network is going to require more attention to detail than on Comedy Central. Not saying CC is easier, just that working for CBS is going to come with more scrutiny. Enuff of that. Moving onward. The new Late Show set looks good. But even better is seeing some of the artifacts and creature comforts from The Colbert Report making its way to its new home. The band was great last night as well. Last and certainly not least, you can see the changing of times when CBS and NBC would allow Jimmy Fallon to guest cameo on The Late Show. Sure, we have seen them all popping up on Jimmy and Conan's from time to time, but it has never been between the Big Two before.
-
Sounds like a fantastic beginning. I'm glad this working for you guys... I really wish I could stay up to watch this stuff... but my body says Oh hell No.
Got any info on the studio band?

‘He’s a mess’: Insiders worry Fallon’s partying is getting out of hand (http://nypost.com/2015/11/01/is-jimmy-fallons-partying-getting-out-of-hand/?ref=yfp)
It may just be the New York Times, but even I thought prior to this article that Jimmy was acting careless this past year. If he takes another drink, I wouldn't put it past NBC to drag Jay Leno back. Laugh if you must, but it's NBC. They would, even if the majority of people out there wouldn't want it to happen. If NBC could be assured of staying on top in the ratings with a 100+ Leno at the helm, they sooooo would do it.
-
If NBC really wants to put the fear of god into Fallon, six words:
"The Tonight Show With Justin Timberlake."
The ratings for that would be through the ROOF, dude.
But this actually has me thinking, it would be a great premise for a recurring segment. Fallon could own up to the rumours, but there's nothing to worry about, things are going fine-- cut to a celeb doing an audition tape for the show. Timberlake, obviously, Jon Stewart, Simon Pegg (oh and how great would it be if Pegg's audition had Nick Frost replacing Higgins?), Jason Statham (with Rosie Huntingon-Whitely as his sidekick, sort of half-Higgins half Vanna White thing going on there), etc etc. Could be fun.

Why Stephen Colbert Has Started Losing To Jimmy Kimmel (http://www.cinemablend.com/television/Why-Stephen-Colbert-Has-Started-Losing-Jimmy-Kimmel-100387.html)
Personally I've stopped watching Late Show the past couple of weeks, but not for the same reasons as stated in the article. For me, there is something off with the pacing of the show which has created a lot of dead weight space since its premiere. So instead of watching full episodes the past 2 weeks, I just watch whatever Late Show uploads to YouTube in the form of clips.
-
Youtube is the only way I watch any of these shows..
-
Jon Stewart returns to the Daily Show tonight to destroy Congress in their handling of 9/11 responder's getting the shaft as part of a spending cut that takes away their medical benefits. Can't wait to see what he has to say. He never holds back and tonight shouldn't be any different.

I'm literally posting this because of ONE line, which I don't want to spoil, but it involves a mode of transportation.

I saw it, but I don't know what line you're referring to. "It's gonna go right through you...." Is that the line?

-
"They're buffalo wings, they'll go through you like a bullet train to Tokyo." Apparently I'm the only person who liked that line, I thought it was hilarious. Maybe I was admiring the onomatopoeticness of it, the line was as efficient and sharp as a bullet train.

I didn't realize Noah had been on for four months already, although I suppose that makes sense. I think everyone figured that this election would put Noah on the map like Bush did for Stewart, but I don't think so. Noah's still new to the country, he hasn't been here long enough to have skin in the game. He hasn't had the chance to become truly passionate about something, which is what really fueled Stewart and the show.
-
I watched his first episode when it aired and haven't been back since until Jon Stewart was on as a guest a few weeks back. That's it.

Conan Lands in South Korea, People Go Nuts (http://kotaku.com/conan-obrien-lands-in-south-korea-people-freak-out-1759162744)
The article linked above blows my mind. This is a Beatles-like reception for someone whose show isn't even shown in the country. It's all Youtube clips, some bootleg translations, and somehow huge. It's really a testament to how connected South Korea is, everyone has high speed internet everywhere in a way we in the states can't even dream of. They're a cyber-culture.

This soap apparently airs twice a week in Korea, and given that these things are usually an hour+ without commercials, that's just an INSANE amount of work that goes into 'em.
I wonder how much this rocked the ratings, airing during the zeitgeist of his visit.

James Corden @ #NataliesHouse
This was... an interesting idea, for sure. James Corden celebrates one year on the air by just showing up at a random person's house and filming the show there. This reminds me o the sort of things that Conan did way back in his early nobody's watching days.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SoMVGipJbwI
Finding the house. There was literally a chance they could have just been wandering around some neighbourhood for an hour. And honestly, seeing some of these houses, especially the one with the fridge on the patio, it reminded me of the X-Files/Cops episode.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qGUm2DTydwA
Hide and seek. Wanda's move was brilliant.
And I gotta say, I LOVE seeing these houses, I watch a lot of HGTV and I always find the "befores" more interesting than the "afters," you get a sense of how these people live, and #NataliesHouse is just full of weird character: it's cramped, there's no flow, there's narrow hallways and piles of stuff, curtains acting as doors... I just find that interesting.

I absolutely love Karaoke Carpool. It's an odd sensation to be both moved and uncomfortable at the same time while watching James and *insert singer of the week*. Gwen was awesome and having Clooney and Julia Roberts joining the festivities mid-way was great. Watching.....seeing.....er, hearing both Clooney and Roberts sing in the way that they do was relatable because it was clear they were somewhat nervous in their singing ability but just went with it and that authenticity is what makes it great. And yes, Gwen doesn't age. Ever. She looks the exact same way now that she did the first time I discovered her. It's insane.

Ok, is it only me but it seems these new crop of night talk shows are very creative. I mean more so on a consistent basis than the old school talk hosts?

Stephen Colbert on live "Late Show" during political conventions
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QbqUaPePTZM
Finally something that actually makes me want to tune into Colbert's show again. To say that I've been somewhat disappointed with what his show has turned out to be is an understatement, but this forthcoming week looks to be promising since it ties into the RNC Convention and what made Colbert awesome to begin with in the first place. Throw in Jon Stewart and we have a recipe for success. Vintage stuff coming our way, no doubt.
-
Part of this made the news this morning, so I'd been waiting all g0d-d6mn day for this:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-GFVKMTJUos
Holy COW I can't believe those Trump quotes aren't repeated every d6mn day every time he's mentioned on the news.
And Samantha Bee continues kicking all kinds of butt, giving a Daily Show style take on the Convention and letting us know what a reprehensible piece of human garbage Mike Pence is, as only a woman can.

Roger Stone is always popping up on CNN and it's true in that he is a blatant liar. He says sh*t on-air that makes all the other Trump Surrogates seems sane and rational by comparison.
-
I get so fed up with news organizations and especially the pundits. The pressure is on to deliver a character and throw bombs into the masses (throw sh*t against the wall and hope something sticks). I tend to believe such 'characters' don't believe in a lot of stuff they say. They need to survive by doing these antics.
I watch very little news, especially these biased news channels. I am becoming ultra jaded on news media. Throw in the putrid politic scene and you've pushed me so far away from believing anything anyone says.

Larry Wilmore's 'The Nightly Show' Canceled by Comedy Central (https://gma.yahoo.com/larry-wilmores-nightly-show-canceled-comedy-central-170105307--abc-news-tv.html)
Simply put, the show sucked. Furthermore, I still don't know how or why Comedy Central would even give him a prime gig to begin with. He may have been decent as a correspondent on The Daily Show, but at no time did I ever say to myself "he deserves his own late night talk show because he is crushing it on TDS".

Jessica Alba teaches Jimmy about Swass
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oN7AEnCJgbc
Starts out as weird-o supermom, quickly delves into WTF territory. What's funny about this, to me, is it reminded me why ages ago I wanted to write a role for Alba, because the person I saw in interviews was way more interesting than the person I saw in the movies. And this REALLY makes me want to write something new for her, especially in this insane hyper-violent vein.
Kevin Smith on Stephen Colbert

Lots of love for The Dana Carvey Show, I remember the two Steves on there and how big the writers room names turned out to be, but I also had no idea that Colbert wrote the Gerald Ford sketch, which is arguably one of my favourites and one that keeps popping up in my head.
Oh, and here's the Skinheads From Maine sketch they were talking about.
