This is awesome... and I mean awesome
Yeah Yeah Yeahs ask fans to put away the phones and cameras
If you're tired of going to see a band perform live and you end up watching much of the show through a tiny smartphone screen in front of you, the Yeah Yeah Yeahs have your back.
The New York rockers posted a sign outside their Webster Hall show on Sunday night asking fans to experience the event with their eyes, not their iPhones.
"PLEASE DO NOT WATCH THE SHOW THROUGH A SCREEN ON YOUR SMART DEVICE/CAMERA.
PUT THAT S--- AWAY as a courtesy to the person behind you and to Nick, Karen and Brian.
MUCH LOVE AND MANY THANKS!
YEAH YEAH YEAHS"
Spin.com reports that singer Karen O delivered the message again at the top of the second song, telling fans to take as many pictures as they liked for a few minutes and then, in more choice words, hang up. A photo of the sign posted by Spin has been re-tweeted more than 800 times.
The Yeah Yeah Yeahs' fourth album, "Mosquito," is due out April 16.
