Come on, this looks awesome! It's a cross between Assassins Creed III (http://pennycan.createaforum.com/video-games/assassin's-creed-iii/msg9377/#msg9377), National Treasure (http://pennycan.createaforum.com/dvd's-blu-rays/national-treasure-(2004)/msg10644/#msg10644) and of course Sleepy Hollow (http://pennycan.createaforum.com/dvd's-blu-rays/sleepy-hollow-(1999)/msg12089/#msg12089). I'm already down for this.

I am 7 weeks behind with the show as I use to juggling all of my current shows. This was the one that I was most uncertain about. Wasn't sure this modern day take on the Sleepy Hollow myth would work. Even though I wasn't watching the show, I was keeping track of what was showing signs of either getting cancelled and what was getting renewed. I was totally shocked to hear that Sleepy Hollow was not only succeeding, but had such strong word of mouth that the series was already picked up for a second season after the 3rd episode had aired. Wow. This was totally unexpected and unheard of for a new show. And the fact that FOX is behind this show of faith is even more shocking given their poor track record.

So, I come into the Pilot with very high expectations. Having just watched it, I am damn impressed by the quality of the show. First off, both the main characters I Ichabod Crane (Tom Mison) and Abbie (Nicole Beharie) are immensely likable. They play off each other extremely well, which makes you want to see them working together as a team. Second, the episode does a fantastic job in grounding the mythology and legend in the 21st century and it works. Lastly, there is some pretty damn funny and humorous moments that take place within the hour and it never feels forced. They are scenes that will definitely leave a smile on your face.

When the Headless Horseman trades in his old battleaxe for an assault rifle, the image is undeniably awesome/ Overall the Pilot does what most fail to do and that's give it an immediate identity. I wasn't really expecting them to retain the horror element as they did. It's clear the writers know what they are doing here. The writing and acting is already up and running. I'm already on board with this series and can't wait to see what comes next. It's even better that I have 5 more episodes waiting for me right now to get through.

A couple of nice surprises for me in this one. As great as the Pilot episode was, I was bummed that they killed off Clancy Brown's character so fast. I thought that was it. No more from him. It was cool to see a flashback with him and Abbie in how they first met. But it was what came near the end of the episode that gives me hope that Clancy will be around for awhile. When Abbie has a conversation with him, I'm sensing that she will be seeking advice from him (her conscious) from episode to episode. Yay! The other cool thing is finding out that Lyndie Greenwood is playing Abbie's sister. Double Yay!!!!

The whole 'Entering the dream to take on The Sandman' was pretty damn impressive. Kinda like watching Nightmare on Elm Street, fighting against Freddy Kruger. The special fx are amazing and some of the very best I have ever seen on a TV show. Love the flashback scenes of Crane back in his own time. It just looks damn cool and they have gone to great lengths to make it look good. Elsewhere, I guess Clancy Brown isn't going to be popping up on the series as much as I would have hoped. They had a flashback scene early in the episode of a previous scene that did the previous episode. I thought Abbie would be having small conversations with him from week to week.

So, we get a little bit of Abbie and her Sister (Lyndie Greenwood) in this one, working as a team to take down the Moloch henchmen. But she is back in jail and heading back to the psych ward. It's hinted at that the appeal process will take 6 months (TV time) for her to be released into the custody of Abbie. I don't wanna have to wait that long. Need as much Lyndie as possible!

Pretty interesting story having a long forgotten colony from the Middle Ages suddenly appearing within contemporary times in Sleepy Hallow. I kinda figured that they weren't really there and would in fact "disappear" by the end of the episode. But still fun none the less. I take it that Morales is going to become a big thorn on the show snooping behind the Captain's back trying to uncover the truth about who and what Crane is.

John Noble! Yay!! Awesome choice in casting him as the 'Sin Eater'. But I don't see where his character will fit into the future of the series now that he has served his purpose and rid Crane and The Headless Horseman of their blood ties to one another. I would love to see Noble continue on with the show in any capacity. Make it happen!!!!! Really dug the flashback scenes. Looked great.

Awwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww man! Talk about ending the episode at the worst possible time. So, Crane and Abbie are able to finally "catch" and trap the Headless Horseman and then.......fade to black, roll credits. Ack!!! Not cool!! Anyway, some really funny moments in this episode and naturally it's Crane behind everyone of them. Is computer "skills" is pretty damn funny....random hunt and peck typing if you will. I also thought it was funny how he got his first taste of internet  p o r n  too. Hahaha. Bring on the next episode! I need to see the conclusion of this!!!

It makes perfect sense why UV Lights would stop him dead in his tracks. Marcus Van Sciver IS the Headless Horseman! ;) Ha. Inside joke tracing back to Blade The Series. Pretty good "origin" story showing how The Headless Horseman came into being and how he is tied into Crane and more importantly.....his wife.

Well, we finally find out how Abbie and Crane are connected. It's revealed that Abbie is the descendant of Grace Dixon who helped Katrina give birth to her son.....Crane's son that is. So, Abbie and Crane's destiny was foreseen right from the beginning. What's great about the show and this episode is that with a series like Sleepy Hollow, any 'Thanksgiving' episode is still going to feel like Halloween. Not sure what the 'Monster' was called.....Tree Man? Twig Man? Branch Man? Plant Man? Whatever the name, there were parts of it that reminded me of Swamp Thing.

I liked the look and design of the Golem. Too bad this one just one appearance before its demise. Yay for John Nobel's return as Henry 'the Sin Eater'. I wasn't sure if he would be coming back. At the end of the episode, it's pretty much written out that he will be a recurring character, helping Crane and Abbie on their journey. I don't expect him to be in every episode, but it's nice knowing there is more to come from him.

The Vessel
(http://i.imgur.com/cTZ9poD.gif)

Sleepy Hollow has a lot of elements of the Horror genre working for it. The title character dictates that after all. But in the first 10 episodes, it may come across as being 'sanitize' for broadcast TV. Maybe it has to do with FOX not wanting (or can't) to push the envelope a bit further. That is until now. The Vessel is definitely on the right track here. It's not gory or anything and I don't think it needs to be that to claim itself as 'Horror'. But The Vessel itself is the closest thing to a true Horror episode that takes a page right out of Fallen (http://pennycan.createaforum.com/dvd's-blu-rays/fallen-(1998)/msg19017/#msg19017) with demonic possession and the ability to jump from one host to another. I thought the pacing was fantastic in this episode. The FX were great and it just played extremely well overall. Lyndie Greenwood did an awesome job with her scene being possessed. Same goes for Amandla Stenberg. Also great to see Clancy Brown. I hope there are more episodes with him in the future.

Yo Mac, you're probably not watching this, but I do think you will definitely enjoy this particular episode as it's right in your wheelhouse. Give it a shot, you won't be disappointed at all.

Solid Season Finale that has a couple of good twist. The first twist was having it that only a soul can release a soul from purgatory. That meant that Abbie would have to stay behind in order for Katrina to escape. I kinda actually saw this coming given the fact that Abbie needed to confront her fear head on. But the biggest twist was the revelation that the Sin Eater (John Noble) is not only one of the four horsemen, but is the son of Crane and Katrina. Now THAT I didn't see coming. The cliffhanger has him burying Crane in the same hole in the ground that the Sin Eater emerged from.
