Indelible

I always wondered if we would ever get a flashback episode devoted entirely to 9/11 because of what Mac Taylor lost on that day; his Wife. It's been a driving theme over the years as they mention that day time and again. So, here we are, eight years later, as we finally get that episode. Indelible takes place on the 10 year anniversary, 9/11/11 as the gang prepares to attend a memorial for the fallen. Throughout the episode, we are given flashbacks for each character and what they were doing on that day when the Towers fell.
The final 15 minutes was a beautiful and touching tribute, highlighting the Brooklyn Wall, showing members of the Fire Fighting crew that perish.

Indelible - Final Scene (Bruce Springsteen - If I Should Fall Behind)

Such a powerful song. There is absolutely no other song that could have played in the final scene. They picked the ultimate song to play out the episode. Goosebumps. Head over to Earworms - What Song Is Stuck In Your Head At The Moment? (http://pennycan.createaforum.com/music/earworms-what-song-is-stuck-in-your-head-at-the-moment/msg2237/#msg2237) to watch the original Bruce Springsteen video. It will absolutely make your day.

Jake Busey is looking more and more like his pop every day. I wonder if he too is a nut job. (http://i74.photobucket.com/albums/i266/Chiprocks1/Smilies/0%20All%20Smilies/HTL_biggrin.gif). Alyson Michalka is really nice on the eyes, who guest stars as Miranda, a "punk rock" chick.

Cavallino

This was an okay episode about 2 Sisters that steal Ferrari's for a living and end up boosting one from someone that has a bad reputation, a known killer. The proverbial sh*t hits the fan resulting in members of their family getting whacked by him and a 3rd Sister getting kidnapped and held for ransom: the return of his car. It was good, just not great.
The ending with Danny left me a little confused in that he admonished one of his cadets for screwing up, resulting in paper work that keeps him from his Wife and kid. And then at the end of the day, the Cadet invites him to join her and the rest of the squad for drinks. Um, shouldn't you be home with the Wife and Kids right about now, Danny? Only explanation I can come up with is that everything is not rosy in his household and that the marriage is on the rocks.

Well, this explains the ending of last weeks episode. They needed to set up the shooting, which leads to the investigation into Danny and the 3 officers he works with. They sure put an end to this story arc rather fast. It seemed like they were building up the partnership between Danny and Cooper to something more, like a new long term character for the show in Cooper. With the results of Danny being cleared of the shooting, he has now returned back to the Crime Lab, giving up his stripes as a Sargent on the NY Police Force. I knew it was only a matter of time before they dropped this story-line. I just figured it would go a bit longer than it did. Joey McIntyre (New Kids On The Block) has a small cameo role as a gunshot victim. Overall a pretty good episode.

Air Apparent

All about Basketball. I liked this one in spite of anything remotely memorable about the episode. This one was kind of hard to "crack" and figure out who did it. Next to impossible given that they don't even give the guy behind it all any screen time till the end. They don't even mention the Coach at all even in the set up. Oh well....I did like the scenes between Don Flack (Eddie Cahill) and his sister. The show needs to continue utilizing more personal stories like this to go along with the forensics that defines CSI: NY.

Added Episode 6: Get Me Out Of Here

Get Me Out Of Here
(http://i74.photobucket.com/albums/i266/Chiprocks1/Star%20Ratings/HTL_03star.gif)
For a "Halloween" episode, this is about the weakest one ever for any show. They only mention it at the beginning of the episode that it's Halloween. The closest thing to even tying into the holiday was at the end when the gang is in the office watching Friday The 13th. Not sure which installment it was because I haven't seen any of them in years. But it was the one where Jason and some black dude were "duking" it out on a rooftop when Jason slices his noggin off.
Anyway, the episode itself was average. The one thing that made me take notice of it was when the cemetery manager said that his site had over 3 million bodies buried there. Huh? Is that even possible for any place, let alone New York?

Added Episode 7: Crushed
-
Crushed
(http://i74.photobucket.com/albums/i266/Chiprocks1/Star%20Ratings/HTL_04halfstar.gif)
Pretty good episode. Both cases were interesting. The first had to do with the girl, Libby that was "crushed" from the balcony that collapsed at the house party. She wasn't. She was already DOA before that happened. When it was revealed that she was the "victim" by the hands of another girl, Kate, who was defending the honor of her half sister, I could see why in a fit of rage she snapped. Libby was just so damn smug...she had it coming. I'm surprised it didn't happen sooner with all the real victims she created.
The other case had an old case pop up from Jo's past regarding a serial rapist. It looks like this is the start of a long running story arc.

Added Episode 8: Crossroads

Crossroads
(http://i74.photobucket.com/albums/i266/Chiprocks1/Star%20Ratings/HTL_04star.gif)
Although the main story involving the Dirty Judge getting whacked by the kid on the bike was interesting, it's the DC Rapist case from Jo's past that had more weight to it. Looks like the most recent **** victim was lying and digested GHB on her own to frame the defendant. But, my money is on the Congressman's daughter, a former victim that "hired" Ali Rand to help take him down by giving her the GHB. That's my theory. But it's too obvious, which makes me question my theory. Then again, the Congressman could be the one that set this in motion.
To be continued...

Added Episode 9: Means To An End
-
Means To An End
(http://i74.photobucket.com/albums/i266/Chiprocks1/Star%20Ratings/HTL_03star.gif)
Predictable outcome. There was no doubt in my mind who hired Ali Rand to frame John Curtis for her ****, nor was there any doubt about who kills her to cover up their involvement. It was the Senator of course. The confrontation at the end between Jo and Curtis was a page right out of a Bond flick. Instead of killing Jo, he rambles on and on and on, giving her the time needed to take him down...twice.

Clean Sweep

Meh. This was just okay. I'm just getting sick of every single show out there using the whole Ultimate Fighter angle. For this one they had Tito Ortiz making a cameo. Normally I'd say he should to stick to fighting and leave the acting to real pros. But since he sucks at fighting, he is SOL.

Who's There?
Even though the identity of the killer was predictable, which they more or less confirmed during the flashback sequence because my mind kind of filled in the blanks of what the logical conclusion would be, even though they cut it off before the reveal. The only twist for me was the reveal that the Daughter was the 2nd attacker. Still a good episode in spite of having it figured out beforehand.

Brooklyn 'Til I Die
(http://i74.photobucket.com/albums/i266/Chiprocks1/Star%20Ratings/HTL_03halfstar.gif)
Pretty good, if a bit predictable. That's the thing about watching every episode of CSI: NY and CSI: Vegas, they run out of ways to tell a story. If you know the beats, you know who the killer(s) usually are. Looks like they are giving Mac Taylor a love interest. But then again, they have presented so many lately that it's become somewhat of a joke on the series because by the next episode, 'Love-Interest' of the week is nowhere to be found.

Added Episode 13: The Ripple

The Ripple
(http://i74.photobucket.com/albums/i266/Chiprocks1/Star%20Ratings/HTL_04star.gif)
I liked the episode, not so much for the crime and resolution, but for the B and C stories involving Mac and Sid. So, it looks like they are in fact moving forward and giving Mac a love interest. Hopefully this will stick for a long run and give him something else to do on the show besides cracking cases. And as for Sid, the dude gets a $27 million patent payout and promptly buys a Baby Grand Piano which he has delivered into the M.E. Office. Chopsticks for the win!!

Added Episode 14: Flash Pop

Flash Pop
(http://i74.photobucket.com/albums/i266/Chiprocks1/Star%20Ratings/HTL_04star.gif)
Interesting episode having one of their own commit the crime and then staging the murder scene from an unsolved murder back in the late 50's. But I think the episode could and would have been much better if they used existing characters on the show instead of just dumping 3 new characters into the show. There is no history or connection to them where the viewer can say "hey, it's such and such......" Also, with Lee Major's guest staring on Flash Pop, I was expecting something big from him. All total, his screen time amounted to no more than 5 minutes tops. One thing that caught my attention is the woman playing Mac's love interest. The last place I saw Megan Dodds was in Awake (http://pennycan.createaforum.com/tv/awake-(season-1)/msg7435/#msg7435) and in that particular episode I was scratching my head in where I had seen her previously. It wasn't until watching Flash Pop did a Flash Biub go off in my head. D'oh!

Kill Screen

Very entertaining episode involving a Gears Of War 3 (http://pennycan.createaforum.com/video-games/gears-of-war-3/msg35/#msg35) tournament. This wasn't just some minor backstory either. The game itself was featured heavily throughout the episode. For me the best part was seeing Mac and the rest of the team playing the game after solving the case. Makes me want to play the game right now.

Sláinte

Boring episode. So, somebody kills a dude, hacks him up into 4 pieces and then places each of the 4 pieces at each point of Hell's Kitchen. Exactly. Boring. I think it might be time to pull the plug on CSI: NY if this is what they have in store for future episodes.

Unwrapped

Fantastic episode. Even though it was obvious from the get go who the shooter was, I still didn't have a clue as what the connection was. It still didn't matter. The ride to get to the reveal at the end was worth it. Also, I like how the story is progressing with Mac and his woman. Let's just hope this one sticks around for awhile.

Near Death
(http://i74.photobucket.com/albums/i266/Chiprocks1/Star%20Ratings/HTL_05star.gif)
Great episode. I thought they did a fantastic job juggle all 3 stories seamlessly between the Crime, the operation and the out-of-body conversations. I always enjoy these so-called reflective moments that pop up on other series. This wasn't the typical Season Finale in the sense that they left us with a major cliffhanger to lock in people to want to tune in for next season. Still a great way to end Season 8 though.
