Superman & Batman
Trailer
Coming soon....
-
Comic-Con 2013: ‘Superman & Batman’ movie will follow ‘Man of Steel’ (http://herocomplex.latimes.com/movies/comic-con-2013-superman-batman-movie-will-follow-man-of-steel/#/0)
Just waiting to hear Warner Brother's confirm the rumors that Superman & Batman will follow Man Of Steel, with The Flash to follow in 2016 and of course Justice League, also in 2016. DC needs to get this done because they are getting their asses kicked by Marvel left and right.
-
Superman & Batman has been confirmed.
-
With David Goyer writing. The buzz I'm hearing on Twitter isn't that nuts about it.
-
I'm willing to just let it play out and see what comes of this. People will find things to rip apart before it has even begun. It shouldn't shock anyone that the studio wants to have one writer overseeing the entire 'Universe' that all these characters will be inhabiting. I just think that anyone that is bashing him right now is based on Man of Steel. Overall, he's had some good stories to his credit.
-
You gotta figure they're going to throw an insane amount of money at Christian Bale to get him to play Batman again. He's the closest thing they have to what RDJ brings to Iron Man (and his whole "I pretended to blow myself up to retire" thing makes your refusal of the call moment easy enough).
-
You perception of Bale and Downey is spot on. It would definitely help the Superman franchise 'get over' with the public at large and erase the growing pains of Man Of Steel. But will it happen? I don't know. Everyone has their price and I'm sure that if they offer Bale 20 Million or percentages of the movies back end, he may just in fact 'suit up' one more time. All I ask is that we are done with Batman Origin story. If I have to sit through another one, I will kill Goyer. :P
-
I just imagine the phone call to Bale's agent, the dude from WB is practically sobbing like Ted Baxter: "please! Pleeeease! Puh-lee-lee-hee-hee-heeeeeze!"
I mean, it can't be worse than being in that Terminator movie.

Took them long enough to upload this. My guess is that it keeps getting pulled down. Anyway, enjoy......
-
So it's not Superman Vs. Batman. Now that would be just silly
-
Not only that, but both wear suits and trade on Wallstreet. Sh*t is bound to hit the fan for sure.
-
So it is Superman Vs. Batman
Like fighting each other?

So it is Superman Vs. Batman
Like fighting each other?
I can guarantee you 100% that we will get a super brawl between the two. That's what has most people excited about the movie. That's why everyone has been clamoring for this. We want to see the fight. They will fight before joining forces to take on the common enemy. If they didn't fight each other, there will be a HUGE backlash from fans and would alienate so many people that they risking losing money on future films because they couldn't be trusted to deliver what we want.

OK, I'm help me understand. Superman has super powers. Batman does not... right? He's just a man with nifty gadgets. How is that physical fight going to go down?
-
The debate that has been raging since the dawn of time. It will come down to a Brain Vs. Brawn scenario. No idea how it's gonna go down in a movie, but I suspect that with Bruce Wayne, he will invent Armour that will "level" the playing field to a degree as well as using his mind to outwit Superman. Or they may go with the idea of a "weakened" Superman by way of Kryptonite that levels the playing field or a combination of both. In "reality", Batman would never be able to do any damage to Superman if it was simply a Brawn Vs. Brawn showdown. Whichever way they decide to go, it will and should be an EPIC fight between the two most popular comic book characters of all time.
Take a look at how Iron Man and Thor threw down against each other in The Avengers. It's basically the same scenario with one characters more or less a God and the other a self-made superhero.
-
I thought Superman was rather bright. No dummy. He has both brain and brawn. Thor too... right?
I'm sure Hollywood will come up with something.
Has this played out in the comic book world?

Thank you Chip… that was entertaining in a very ****** up way. I say that with endearment.
I’ve never considered myself a nerd, despite my wife calling me one, but I do have area’s that really interest me more than the general population. Sci-fi, horror and music. Then I realize I am not even remotely geeky when I meet or hear total geeks.
On my local radio station, two of the side jocks took the reigns over and had a call-in Nerd Trivia. Like these two guys, most of them got into excruciating detail and opinions and just had hissy fits with each other. Entertaining on a whole new level of weirdness. Again… endearment.
Anyway, you can hear a similar nerd discussion/arguement/hissy fit here (http://www.971talk.com/glover/podcast.aspx). Mostly Star Wars, Lord of the Rings, etc.
Look for this podcast... 7-19-13 DGS HOUR 3

I hope you like it despite not knowing who any of the guys are. When you listen to it, a 3rd Jock - Mark Klose (an old guy like me) you can tell is just rolling his eyes and he makes everybody quite aware. I was laughing with him ;D
-
Ahem, don't we need to change the title of this thread?
-
Ahem, don't we need to change the title of this thread?
Not just yet. Since this is a direct sequel to Superman, I'm of the mindset that they will flip flop back to give Supes top billing.

Man, I didn't even think of that. (http://i74.photobucket.com/albums/i266/Chiprocks1/Smilies/0%20All%20Smilies/Waiting.gif)

IGN News : Superman Vs Batman Casting Rumors
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1T3qEEy6lbc
Jon Hamm would be a good choice for Bruce Wayne / Batman. But it's still too earlier in the process for me to even pick one that would be awesome though. I'm still holding out hope that it's the other John that gets the role. John Goodman that is. ;D
-
Edris Elba, man! He's been in my head for Batman for ages! Why not? Especially if it's gotta be older Batman!
-
Ben Affleck is the new Batman (http://insidemovies.ew.com/2013/08/22/ben-affleck-batman/)
Stunned doesn't even begin to tell the story. This isn't a knock against him, I just think he is not the right fit based on his last turn in a Superhero costume. Dare Devil sucks. Sure, the writing was horrid, but Affleck wasn't any better in the role. Hell, maybe he can pull it off and come through in a big way. But my enthusiasm for the movie is tepid right now. I think Matt Damon would make a better Batman if I'm throwing out names.
-
I am still needing to read more. I think on paper it's a tough sell. :)
Some people are pretty pissed.
-
Hey, the die is cast. There is no getting around the fact that Affleck is gonna be Batman. Might as well dig our heels in and hope his hot streak continues. If anyone can get Hostages out of Iran, it's f*cking Batman! ;D
-
Na na na na na na na na na na na na na Affleck.
-
What Boyinblack just sent me via email is entirely plausible.
-
You can post it. I am on my phone and limited on what I can do. I think Affleck would make a great Lex Luthor.
-
I'd be down 100% for Affleck as Lex and Christian Bale returning as Batman. If they are "done" with the Batman movies and Bale wants to move on, I think it would make perfect sense to "pass the torch" from Bale to Henry Cavill in jump starting the Superman franchise which really didn't connect with the fans as most thought it should have. You would definitely be bringing back a huge fan base into the Superman movies if Bale was on board for one last time.
I read somewhere that Elijah Wood's name is being thrown around for the part of the Joker, which I actually kinda like. It's more fans than actual studio execs putting his name out there. But yeah, Wood as the Joker, even the character has yet to even being mentioned by name for the movie.
-
I'd be down for Elijah as the joker...he's a good actor.
:)

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=drclywWdWJg
Yikes. No matter what channel I turn on, all the talk is about the casting of Batman. I'm gonna revisit Dare Devil and see if its as bad as I remember it to be.
-
Remember, Affleck WAS the bomb in Phantoms, yo.
-
Remember, Affleck WAS the bomb in Phantoms, yo.
It too long enough for someone on here to go to that joke. ;D
-
Now that I've had time to digest the news and listening to many different people talking about it today, I have soften in the knee-jerk reaction I had when I heard about it. Still doesn't wipe the slate clean with regards to Dare Devil, but I am willing to give him a chance. He is after all a different actor now and will be bringing into the project a 'director's mentality', which is an added bonus.
-
I'm sure he'll be fine. I have my doubts about the movie, but I'm sure he'll be fine.

The New Batman: Does IGN Believe in Ben Affleck?
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PRh0KMsLTv8
Man alive, I've never seen so many news outlets and whatnot dive into a report that ultimately doesn't mean anything until there is a script. HLN, CNN, ABC News, TYT, IGN.....they all have something to say on this topic. I subscribe to them all and they keep sending me their feeds on YouTube and I haven't been able to escape it because this is all I have in my queue. You'd think there were other things happening in the world today. I guess not.

Bryan Cranston Responds to Lex Luthor Casting Rumors: ‘This Is All News to Me’ (http://screenrant.com/bryan-cranston-lex-luthor-rumors-batman-superman/)
Come on! Make this happen! Cranston as Luthor would f*cking awesome!
-
I'm watching Mallrats and totally forgot that the opening credits includes a comic book cover as Ben Affleck AS BATMAN. Well, Buttman, but still. Prophetic.
And following that line of thought, Kevin Smith's latest of Fatman on Batman (http://smodcast.com/episodes/batfleck-begins-and-burtons-batman/) has Smith address all this. Plan on listening to it tomorrow while I run errands.
-
You've been name dropping Kevin a lot the past couple of days. You should get your fill here (http://pennycan.createaforum.com/the-drive-in-theater/kevin-smith-filmography/msg1765/#msg1765).

It's been a while, figured it was time for a revisit. Besides, in this case who better to give perspective than the dude who gave Affleck his career?

I think that might be ALL they say about it, they got stuff to do besides wank off their old friend. Besides, Kev already gushed a ton about this on his podcast. Said everything that needed to be said, I think.

Ben Affleck's Batman Costume Revealed - IGN News
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Y6EpFrg_vFI
The image really isn't clear enough for me to give a Thumbs Up or a Thumbs Down. They are purposely concealing as much as they can so that they have something left to "reveal" later to keep the buzz going. Same can be said for the Batmobile. But with that one, I already approve of where it's going. Unlike the millions of fans that raved about the Dark Knight version of the car as being the "Best" in the series, I for one didn't care for it because it had zero personality. There was nothing to it. It was nothing more than a souped up Tank, both in look and practicality. I want MY Batmobile to look and feel like one.

Superman V Batman Title Revealed
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=N7_KUge49oc
It's official now. The name of the movie is now called Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice. I'm actually surprised that Superman is getting second billing in his own sequel.
-
And seriously, outside of people who talk about movies all the time, is the average movie-goer going to say that WHOLE title, or even the names in the right order? Probably not. It's Batman vs Superman, or Superman vs Batman. Maybe not even "vs," just "Superman Batman." They know what the movie is, the ticket counter will know what they want to see, it's a useless semantics thing at this point, really.
And I hate "Dawn Of Justice." It's like "The Adventure Begins." It feels like telling the audience "nothing THAT important will happen in this movie because there'll be another one!"
-
It's clear that Warner Brother's thinks they are being cute with the extended title of 'Dawn of Justice'. Might as well just call it 'Prologue to the REAL Justice League Movie".

Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice - Our Reaction to the Title - IGN Conversation

Looks like we aren't the only ones dissecting the new title.........

Film School Rejects weighs in as well. (http://filmschoolrejects.com/news/batman-v-superman-dawn-of-justice.php) One of the many good points they raise: why are we already being teased about the next blockbuster within the name of this one?
-
why are we already being teased about the next blockbuster within the name of this one?
Because WB is playing catch up with Marvel and they will do anything to drill into the consumer that THEY have a franchise as well. That's why the Studio is forgoing a proper "sequel" to Superman. They don't have the time or the patience to wait around 3-4 more years to unleashed their own "All-Star" flick. They can't sit around and make a couple of Superman flicks, a couple of Batman flicks and certainly don't want to risk doing a stand alone Wonder Woman flick for fear that women can't "open a movie" which is what I'm sick and tired of hearing about as the reason why we have never gotten a big screen version of the Amazonian.
-
Looks like we aren't the only ones dissecting the new title.........
I read a pretty interesting opinion piece the other day about this exact thing. It’s from the perspective of someone who is not a comic book fan but enjoys the movies. The author’s main point in the piece is how the culture of the fans have become more intensely negative. Their kneejerk reactions and attacks. The author must have been older because he was reminiscing about the days where you would be ‘excited’ to hear of news of a movie being made. Now, it’s about crapping all over the movie news.
And I have to tend to agree with the piece. I don’t understand crapping on something as trivial as a title. In the whole context of things… it means nothing. I don’t understand getting worked up about something so meaningless. It has zero impact on your life. But if you have brought upon yourself to make it a thing, all I can do is shake my head and say good luck with that.
I'll see if I can find the article.
-
It's sort of like Louis CK's bit about wifi on the airplane not working "look how entitled you feel to something that didn't exist five minutes ago."
I think the reason we used to be excited for new movies all the time is because it's an issue of trust, there's still some people we trust to give us a good movie (Pixar, Marvel, etc) but because the process has become so open over the last twenty years, combined with the fact that audiences are savvier about the material they consume, they've become more discriminating. Which I think is a good thing. Having negativity be your default position ISN'T a good thing, but I think it's coming from a place where the movie fan has been burned so often.
-
Love that CK bit.
I get it, but I don't.
I know I've complained before about remakes, reboots, etc. I was just grumbling and may have posted pieces on it, but come to realize, what I was saying didn't change anything. Didn't really expect it too. No one was listening and rightly so. Well, maybe listening but shrugging it off. Basically pissing in the wind.

Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice Official Comic-Con 2015 Trailer
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_pJ3OV4xJ5g
Nerdgasm.
The final shot between Supes and Batty had me grinning ear to ear. So, from the trailer, it looks like Bruce Wayne was/is at ground zero when Supes and General Zod were leveling the city in the first movie and this is the moment where Bruce considers him to be a nuisance. Great f*cking trailer all around.

-
...not really.
I mean, it's not like Superman couldn't tell who Batman is since he has X-Ray vision, so it's not like he's learning anythign new (he's certainly not reacting like he's learning anything new). I don't see anyone reacting. And it's in this little cave box thing, os it's not like a huge group of people are finding out. It seems like you CAN recork this bottle. So... it seems kinda pointless, at least in this context. It's also not like this isn't a scene we'd EXPECT to see in a Batman/Superman movie.

Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice Official Trailer #2

This trailer is nowhere near as epic and emotional as Trailer #1, but the money shot at the end did having me grinning ear to ear though. Very dissapointed that Snyder chose to reveal a major villain in the trailer. I won't say who if you're inclined to stay in the dark. I absolutely wished Snyder kept it to himself. F*ck you Snyder! F*CK!

I feel like i"m the only person who's not excited for this movie. Is it just me? is it because Snyder's burned me before, is it because I didn't like Superman, is it because my own ideas for heroes are more dominant in my mind? This movie, to me, just feels like "yeah, that exists." Like a video game for a system you don't own. "Oh, that's there."
