So happy that Person Of Interest is back! And I'm glad that they are keeping the new lineup intact from the season finale. I was uncertain if Amy Acker would return. Figured that since she was institutionalize that this would be the way the writers wrote her off the show because up till now, he character 'Root' had only been a sporadic character here and there. Looks like they are ramping up her arc to something much bigger, possibly as THE key to everything with the Machine contacting her (which they showed in last season's finale).

Also returning is Sarah Shahi as Shaw. Wasn't sure if she would be back either for the same reason as Amy. Looks like she is a permanent fixture with the guys (for the time being anyway). Carter looks to be going solo as she tries to bring down HR and everything connected to it which means she will be keeping her distance from Reese and Finch. Fusco didn't have much to do in this episode except defuse a bomb. Not sure where they are going to go with him now that he and Carter are no longer partners. I think they are setting up a possible new recruit to the team with the Navy guy Jack Salazar played by Rey Valentin. It's not immediate, but I think he will return down the road once his tenure with the Navy expires.

Pretty good twist at the end having the 'Board member" turning out to be an assassin of some kind of shadowy watch group. I've gotten so use to the idea that Finch and Reese always saving their intended target from harm that I sometimes forget that their will be the occasional 'hit'. His parting words at the end about hunting down those that use "information" by tapping into private lives obviously include Finch. Elsewhere, it's so obvious that Carter's new "partner" is a plant / mole placed there by HR. And what's the deal with Fusco? He has barely been in the first two episodes. Maybe he is getting bigger roles in the movies now, beyond the small roles he use to do.

This episode was f*cking awesome!! The entire team came together to work on a case, including Zoe (Paige Turco). There is something very cool, sexy and hot about seeing Zoe, Shaw (Sarah Shahi) and Carter (Taraji P. Henson) working undercover as their own little 'Charlie's Angels' Unit. Bonus points for having them dolled up and hitting the dance floor. I actually liked the story as well with the 'Target' Ian Murphy (Warren Kole) finding out he had a son he never knew about. It's obvious they are setting up a potential romance between Carter and the dude down the road.

Bonus points for Root's (Amy Acker) story. Her escape from the Psych Ward was very reminiscent of Linda Hamilton's escape in T2: Judgement Day. They even gave the show it's very own "Dr. Silberman" with Dr. Roanld Carmichael (Bruce Altman) who can't quite believe what is happening. Nice. All around, one of the best episodes yet for the series. Downside is that Fusco (Kevin Chapman) is once again reduced to something of a cameo. Hardly in the episode at all.

Usually when a story, be it TV or a movie, opens with someone being lost at sea off a boat in the middle of nowhere, it always turns out to be a faked death. Surprise surprise....that's exactly what we get. Even though I suspected this within minutes of the opening, the episode was strong enough due to the acting and the twist that kept coming throughout. I love Shaw and her constantly fighting back the urge to kill people. He reaction to wanted to stab the bank teller was priceless. It was cool seeing Kathleen Rose Perkins as the Wife who is ultimately framed for her husband's "death". One of the most interesting things happens at the end of the episode. For only the second time in the series, Reese defies Finch and allows the situation to play itself out by basically giving both the Wife and Husband a gun. Whoever shoots the other first.....wins. The only other case where Reese injected himself into a situation came in Season 1 when he "talking" the the murderer and it fades to black. Whenever see what happens, but it was clear that Reese disposes of him.

Awesome opening by having Bear (The Dog) as part of the team and playing at being sick so that he, Reese and Finch could gain access to the Animal Shelter / Hospital in order to save the Doctor from harms way.

What a bad ass episode! This one in particular just confirmed what I already knew.....that the women on the show are the real stars. No disrespect to Jim Caviezel and Michael Emerson, both who kick ass as well, but watching Taraji P. Henson as Carter strut herself on a weekly basis is just super fun. What looked to be somewhat of a throwaway episode for Carter turned out to have THE best scene of the night when she finally reveals that she has known all along that her new "partner" was a HR mole. Ha. Game, set, match! What made the scene even better was when she used HIS stupidity against him by framing him for the Bar Owners murder using HIS gun. Now he has to work for Carter. She pulled a Reese move there on him, blackmailing him in the same way that Reese did with Fusco.

The other great thing about this episode is that we got a little insight to Shaw's past with a flashback to when she was in a car accident and found out that he father didn't make it. It was kind of unclear, but I'm guessing this traumatic moment is the reason why she is so distant now. Why she has problems relating to people. I loved the fact that she made an effort to be nice and hug Gen, the little Russian girl that she saved. Not to be completely outdone by the girls on the show, Reese finally throws down against Officer Patrick Simmons. The cliffhanger at the end was good too with Root hovering over a sleeping Shaw. Fade to black as we hear her tazing her.

Fusco (Kevin Chapman) is MIA again. What the hell!

Awesome episode and insanely fun to watch. That was a damn entertaining hour. Loved how Root was basically point out everything along the way that would eventually turn out to be a huge thing later on. The statue, the park bench and envelope, the Steel Bars. Even better was seeing that Shaw was now "working" with her. Turns out it was only temporary (I think). I like that Carter has her partner under her thumb and it looks like he is coming around now that he has seen first hand what HR is all about. But then again, his little "conversion" could be an act just to get her to lower her guard down and give him time to retrieve the gun that she is using to blackmail him into servitude. I think Kirk Acevedo's character will pop up in a future episode. Fusco is one tiny scene and then he was gone. This is becoming the norm now.

Awesome episode that literally ends with a bang. The cast itself was damn entertaining as it keeps everyone guessing as to who is hustling who. Even though I saw the twist coming a mile away, it didn't lessen the impact whatsoever. The fact that the MacGuffin in this one had to do with a signed baseball from the 'Murderer's Row' Yankees (Babe Ruth, Lou Gehrig, etc....) was just a bonus. The big reveal for the overall mythology of the series comes at the end when Carter's partner is gunned down, who in turns takes out Detective Raymond Terney. Mere seconds away from moving on into the next world, he fingers Alonzo Quinn as the head of HR, the one that Carter has been confiding to. The look on her face says it all. My drinking game continues as Fusco shows up for one scene and then is gone......again. Ack! Aaron Staton from Mad Men guest stars as the Con Man.

Endgame
(http://i.imgur.com/cTZ9poD.gif)

What a fast hour and one filled with nothing but impending doom. With a title like Endgame and the fact that this was pretty much a Carter-rich episode, I couldn't help but feel uneasy watching this. I love Taraji P. Henson and the idea of this episode leading to her character's impending death made this one of the most uncomfortable episodes I have ever watched. The entire episode was basically set up for her to say her "goodbyes" to Fusco, Reese, Ex-Husband and Son. Factor in the fact that Carter finally "crossed the line" from uploading the law to actually breaking the law to make her plan play out as it does, it made the writing on the wall the more clearer that this was it for her. Not! Look, in the back of my mind I had a fail-safe Carter in how she could escape harm. But given that this is a series in this day and age where writers don't have a problem killing off Main Characters to serve the story, it left me uncertain.

I'm just glad that she came to her senses and called in Reese for backup. Now next weeks episode should be epic because with Alonzo Quinn in her custody, it's a race to deliver him to either a precinct or a safe-house and in their way will be tons of dirty cops (i.e. members of HR). I'm expecting a shootout for sure and this will something right up Shaw's alley.  ;D Bring it on!!!!

FYI, if they ever did kill off any of the three main characters (Finch, Carter or Reese), it would be the death of the show.

Noooooooooooooooooooooooooooo!!!!!!

No, no, no, no, no, no, no, no! I can't believe they killed off Carter! What the f*ck!!!!! Worst decision the writers ever made is to kill off Carter! FUUUUUCK!!!!!! I'm speechless. Angry. Sad. Confused. P*ssed. Fuuuuuuuck!! Why? Why? This is NOT  sitting well with me right now. I love the character of Carter, but I love Taraji P. Henson more. Sigh.

I kinda saw this coming based on last weeks episode. But the nail in the coffin that pretty much told me her ticket was up was when Reese and Carter finally kiss. There as been an inkling of a blossoming romance between the two. It wasn't overt to draw attention to itself. It was a look here and a smile there that showed there was a spark between the two. But when they locked lips, I knew it was over. In spite of this MAJOR bombshell with Carter, overall the episode was fantastic. An on-the-edge-of-your-seat thriller from start to finish. Even Fusco had a huge part in this one. I was certain that he was the one that would be going. But as soon as he survived, there was no other choice that Carter would be it. Man, I'm still p*ssed like never before.

The Devil's Share
(http://i.imgur.com/SW1TShG.gif)

I actually put off watching The Devil's Share for a couple of weeks because I just wasn't all that keen to see an episode without Carter. More specifically without Taraji P. Henson. With her gone, this is a such huge uphill battle for the series to get over. I don't think the show is going to suck, but there is going to be a big hole to fill. Henson was and is awesome in POI. Anyway, just as I suspected, watching this episode felt off because she wasn't around anymore.

This one is basically the retribution episode as everyone in New York City is on a manhunt to track down Simmons, the man responsible for Carter's death as well as being the one that also shot Reese. The entire city may be after him, but it's Reese that he has to be worried about. Obviously Reese isn't one to sit in a hospital bed and recover from his injuries. So, we have a dying Reese in hot pursuit of Simmons location. But the road leads to Quinn of all people. It's a great scene between the two. I think the biggest surprise for me is that it's Fusco that tracks down Simmons and issues the beat down that we all thought would come at the hands of Reese. But given his condition with him bleeding out, that's asking a bit much.

Another surprise was seeing Elias revealing himself to Simmons inside his hospital room. He's the one that hands out justice in Carter's name. I wonder if his role will start to ramp up now that HR is done. One thing I see happening is that Root will more or less take over the spot once inhabited by Carter. They did give Root some great scenes. In the way she was taking out all threats once Finch agreed to include her in finding Reese, it was like watching a female Terminator. Solid episode....even if it was a bit off.

This has been a sh*tty past few weeks because they killed off two beloved characters. Carter in Person of Interest and Herschel in The Walking Dead. Sigh.

Lethe
(http://i.imgur.com/cTZ9poD.gif)

Lethe is another example of the amazing writing this series has produced over and over. The episode kind of starts and plays out as your "typical" POI story. But the longer the plot reveals itself, the deeper and more meaningful it gets. Lethe is a two-fold origin story. The first being that we see how Finch became who we all know and love. But it's the 'why' that really forms his character and gives it meaning. Seeing the flashback scenes with him as a kid with his father makes everything that has come after the fact all the more richer. The fact that he came up with the idea of the machine for the sole purpose of helping his father remember stuff as his mind started to deteriorate pretty much maps it all out. The other origin story is that of the second 'Machine' called Samaritan, which was actually created before Finch's own Machine.

Having Saul Rubinek as Arthur Claypool, the creator was the perfect casting choice, but I couldn't help but think that I was watching Artie from Warehouse 13 though. Like I said....perfect. The other great casting choice was having Camryn Manheim play his "Wife". Remember what I said about the great writing? Well even though I suspected that she wasn't really his wife and was in fact an 'Agent'. What I didn't see coming was that she was and is THE Puppet Master. I was shocked to see Hersh show up as I thought he was dead, having been gunned down in the street. So when it's revealed he is working for Diane, it gave me a huge 'what the f*ck' moment.

I liked that they have sent Reese on a bender as he tries to cope with losing Carter. If the writers had him 'back at work' so soon after losing her, it would have felt wrong in a lot of ways. It can't be 'business as usual', in spite of them having a job to do. Having him questioning everything and getting drunk in the process was and is the way to go. Having Fusco tracking him down and then engaging in a brawl with him was the icing on the cake of a fantastic episode. Props to letting Shaw carry the bulk of the episode with Reese "out of the picture" for the time being.

Another outstanding episode. As simple as it was (to get into the bank and retrieve the backup Samaritan), it sure packed a lot of top notch moments and more back story about Finch. I thought it was a great way to bookend his father losing his memory of him and the emotion he had toward Arthur who himself was losing his own memory. Great scene at the end when the 'Machine' gave him a present by playing the best parts of him on video, especially his Wife. Nice twist by having the 'Bank Manager' swapping out the backup with dummies so that Arthur never did destroy it as he (and we the viewers) though. Now it's in the hands of the bad guys. Fantastic writing all around. Loved the torture scene with Root and her ability to turn it on her captor, Control. Can't wait to see what happens next!

The loss of Carter is still being felt, as exhibited by this episode. I can't recall another show that would still be reeling (and rightly so) from the loss of such a beloved character. This may all be make believe, but even I miss Carter. As for the episode, it was great to see that the Machine could still make Reese do his work, even if he doesn't want to. Enjoyed seeing Samm Levine in this one. I like that the majority of the episode takes place 30,000 feet in the air as Reese has to track and find those with evil intents to take down the plane. And, it also looks like they are setting up a potential 'love interest' for Reese as well. Yes, still too soon given that he is still mourning Carter. But the ending does leave it open. I liked the final shot of the episode where Reese and Finch walk off as he is back on the team under his own terms.

A 'Heist' episode. It was good and I like that they kinda used it to sell that the Olympcis are just a few days off, even if it was for Gymnastics and on a competing network. I will say that having those "parallel bars" on the ceiling for access to the Book they were after was just a tad too much coincidental. But still a fun episode. But there was one scene that spoke volumes for the characters and the series as a whole. While the team was celebrating their successful job, Reese pours a glass for Carter. The gesture was sweet because he hasn't forgotten her, nor have I. I think about Carter every episode since her last. I'm glad the writers are keeping her spirit around, especially for Reese. I would hate that they would move on so quickly, which a lot of shows do when a fan favorite character moves on.

Last Call
(http://i.imgur.com/SW1TShG.gif)

The lack of new episode for POI has been frustrating. But with the Winter Olympics over, we should be getting a nice run of new, uninterrupted episodes. Knock on wood. As for Last Call, it's a standalone "Crime of the Week" episode, but it sets up something "bigger" for future arcs. The 'Bad Guy' behind this weeks crime is never caught. Not only that, we don't even know what he looks like since he orchestrated everything from behind a Burner Phone. So, very curious to see who it is and exactly what his agenda is (other than retribution against Finch, Reese and Shaw for sabotaging his crime getting a 911 Operator to destroy call logs and using a kidnapped boy as leverage). Another interesting thing about this one was the introduction of what appears to be Fusco's "new partner". I smell a rat, er mole, sent into spy on Fusco.

We have gotten 'flashbacks' into the life of Finch in previous episodes, but in RAM, the entire episode takes place in the year 2010, long before the events of POI. With this one we see that Reese is not the first 'Soldier' that Finch worked with. Obviously we know what the story would become, but what wasn't clear was what fate his Soldier, Rick Dillinger (Neil Jackson) would meet. Really only two choices actually. Either wind up dead or he goes Rogue. Well, he went rogue.....then he wound up dead. This was just fascinating to watch play out. We get to see through the eyes of Finch the first time he see's Reese, who is actually an "enemy" of his since he was an obstacle to his main objective, protecting his target Daniel Casey (Joe Mazzello). Really cool to see this part of the story play out as Reese is still partnered up with Kara Stanton, who is just as sadastic as we all remember her to be.

We get to see Control (Camryn Manheim) and Counsel (Jay O. Sanders) who are on the hunt for Daniel, because he is the only person to have breached the Machine. Obviously he is a valuable commodity as this entire series is based on the premise of gaining control of said Machine. With sh*t hitting the fan, Council sends in the one person that can clean up the mess, which also presents Finch another first sighting of Shaw (Sarah Shahi). The epilogue takes place in Present Day (2014) with Root (Amy Acker) tracking down Daniel, who has been hiding out in Canada for the past 4 years. I love how this show continues to expand on the mythology and setting up fantastic story arcs for future episodes.

After one too many episodes where Root (Amy Acker) more or less goes AWOL, this episode had Root front and center. Amy owned this one and she came off even more bad ass than she has in the past. It really was like watching her transform into a female version of the Terminator. Give her two guns and watch her do her thing and it's.....sick. Even Fusco got in on the action of double barrel action, channeling Chow Yun-Fat. This show never disappoints me. Ever!

What I thought was just a typical 'Crime of the Week' episode turned out to be part of the huge story line regarding Samaritan. It makes sense that in order to take a Superior Computer like that online, you're gonna need some serious hardware. Enter 6 Generators. It was kind of weird seeing Nazneen Contractor pop up in this episode, which would be the 2nd time this week (the other being an episode of Bones). Prior to this week, I haven't seen her in anything since her final episode on 24 back in 2010. That's a long gap. Getting back to the episode at hand, I thought the best scenes involved Fusco and Shaw. I like they are kind of becoming "partners" in a roundabout way.

Kind of an 'odd' episode for POI because they were going to some genuine laughs. This isn't a show about laughs and yet, sending Shaw and Reese to a High School Reunion together proved to be exactly the way to get some good laughs. Also cool to see Nestor Carbonell appear on the show. It would have been a LOST reunion had he actually shared screen time with Michael Emerson. On well. Root has another kick ass Terminator moment. I will never get tired of seeing her shoot two guns at the same time. Hot! Overall, a decent episode that skewed just a little too much into the comedy zone.

Death Benefit
(http://i.imgur.com/PavQhZ0.gif)

The premise for the show and it's sole reason for existing is that the Machine spits out numbers of those that are in danger or are about to commit a crime. Finch and the gang races to its mark to right a potential wrong. That's it in a nutshell and it has always been compelling TV to watch. But in Death Benefit, the tables are flipped. The series itself is flipped once they realize that the mark they have been sent to protect is in actuality the Machine sending them to assassinate as the Congressman (John Heard) is someone that can pass a bill allowing Decima access to government surveillance, which in itself basically feeds the monster that is Samaritan. The ending is pretty cut and dry as Finch, Shaw and Reese can't condone assassinating anyone....for any reason. It's even more ironic that you have 2 former military ops that got paid to do just that, suddenly going against the Machine. Fantastic episode.

Great song choice to close out the Death Benefit Episode. It's very surreal...simplistic and it served the scene incredibly well. Never heard of the song until now. But it does remind me a bit of It Can't Rain All The Time by Jane Siberry, also another fantastic song too.

Beta

In a word, Beta is EPIC! With Samaritan up and running, it literally puts Reese, Shaw and Root and everyone else on the planet for that matter behind the 8 ball. It's no longer a cake walk when you have the 2nd machine literally following them at every turn. Up till now, there hasn't really been anywhere to hide. But we learn that there are 'Dead Zones' where there aren't cameras, which of course makes it the ideal place to hide ones whereabouts. With Finch basically AWOL from the end of the last episode, the next best thing for Decima to ferret him out is to of course kidnap is one time fiance (who by the way still believes Finch to be dead from a terrorist attack). Naturally Finch was and does eventually give himself up on the condition they release her. Probably the most poignant and definitely heartbreaking scene comes when they release her (blindfolded) and they cross the bridge from opposite ends. When she trips and he catches her, that cuts to the bone because he still in love with her and can't say a damn word to her (she still blindfolded) to that hs can maintain his secret that he is still alive. Brutal. I can't wait to see how this all plays out. I actually thought that this was the Season Finale because it played like one. Nope, one more to go. It's gonna be tough to top this one. But then again, this series always delivers....every....damn...time!

A House Divided
(http://i.imgur.com/PavQhZ0.gif)

I was hoping that we would get an 'origin' story for Peter Collier, the leader of Vigilance, the thorn in the side of everyone. Their motives are legit and commendable. But the way they upload the "law" is questionable as they have no issues with starting a firefight to achieve their goals, public be damned. I have been fascinated with the leader and wanted to know exactly what pushed him into his cause. Well, we finally get our answer. In a nutshell, the Government detained his brother on charges of ties to terrorist. Naturally he was innocent, but the damage had already been done and it was enough to drive him to suicide, which ends up sending Collier on his own crusade. The smug look on the Government pencil pusher would have driven me to the same outcome.

I love how the episode ends because I didn't even see it coming. Collier has kidnapped all the BIG PLAYERS that make up the world of POI and they are now on Trial that he is holding. Finch, Control, Senator Ross Garrison, John Greer and Manuel Rivera are up sh*t creek. Can't wait to see the Season Finale play out. Bonus points for making it so that Reese and Shaw have to team up with their arch enemy Hersh. Awesome!!

Deus Ex Machina
(http://i.imgur.com/HN43uYN.gif)

That's how you do a Season Finale! Everything that has come before and including the kangaroo court has been nothing but theater as we just how far reaching and powerful Decima really is. Turns out that Vigilance was nothing more than a pawen constructed by John Greer to further his agenda of not only getting military backing for Samaritan, but getting the public to think that they need this new machine after orchestrating a "terrorist" attack and making Peter Collier the patsy, who unbeknownst to him was groomed to take the fall from day 1. NEVER saw this or anything like this coming at all.

At the end of the day, Greer wins by activating Samaritan as it goes live online. Immediately we see just what this new machine will be used for as Greer sets about eliminating all the remaining members of Vigilance systematically. But thanks to Root, the gang of Reese, Finch, Shaw and herself, they were able to escape Samaritan due to alteration she did with Samaritan's Servers. But the ending is what's intriguing as each goes their seperate way from each other and they go into hiding....wherever that may be. Loved the song they used to close out the episode (Radiohead's "Exit Music (For A Film)" and I love that there was a picture of Carter (who I still miss on the show). But just seeing her picture was.....a perfect reminder of who was lost during this season. The final scene was very eery. It reminded me of War Games. When Greer asked Samaritan for its commands, I was half expecting to hear Samaritan say "Shall we play a game?".  ;D

This is easily the best episode for the entire season. It's a game-changer and things will never be the same from here on out. Can't wait for Season 4 to start. This is going to be a long Summer. Ack!  I easily rate this one a whopping 10 Stars out of 10. It's THAT damn good!
