It has been a few years since I last watched Erin Brockovich and it's still as good the 20th time as it was the first time. This is just a great underdog movie, pitting not just Erin, but a small town up against a giant corporation. Who doesn't love it when the power hungry, money grubbing a$$sholes are brought to their knees. What makes the movie work is of course Julia Roberts who is fantastic in the title role. I love strong women in cinema and love the fact that this is based on a true story. The other thing the movie has in its favor is Albert Finney, who is awesome. Their on-screen chemistry is damn good and damn funny. They play off each other really well. Aaron Eckhart and Marg Helgenberger also have memorable roles. Definitely worth a Rent for sure. Julia definitely earned Best Actress. I also remember this being a banner year for Steven Soderbergh, but he lost out in Best Director for this film. Bummer. Sucks that he was beat out by himself for Traffic. :P
