Coming off a stellar debut for Homeland, Season 2 had a lot to live up to and I went into this one resigned to the fact that it wouldn't....couldn't match a game changing series. So, how does this season compare to the first? It's just as good, if not better. A lot of the loose ends from Season 1 (http://pennycan.createaforum.com/dvd's-blu-rays/homeland-(season-1-2011)/msg17809/#msg17809) get tied up here. I was kind of shocked that A) they killed Abu Nazir and B) they put Carrie and Brody back together in a romantic capacity. If you've seen the first season, these little tidbits would be the furthest things from your mind of ever happening.

But everything that unfolds throughout Season 2 happens for a reason and it's all organic. Nothing feels contrived or forced. If there is an issue I had, it came during the season finale. But even that was only fleeting because the brilliance of the writing took what I thought could have been the death knell of the series and gives it a shot of adrenaline as it heads into Season 3. Wihtout going into detail, the ending in what could possibly make Carrie want to go back and work for the C.I.A. was the perfect way to keep Carrie and Brody apart and the only logical thing that made sense. I really want to dive deeper into the series and cherry pick some of the plot points. I just don't know if you guys have seen this yet and to spill it here would in fact ruin the fun of watching the show. Get your ass on this and Buy it! Buy it sight unseen....it's worth every penny.

I can at least say that Claire Danes and Damian Lewis once again hit a grand slam when it comes to acting. They are incredible together on screen, but even their scenes away from each other have an electric pulse that you just don't find that often on other shows. I don't know how Danes is able to keep from cracking up in real life. She is so damn convince of a soul that is teetering on the brink of insanity and like a light switch she is able to turn it on when she needs to project adoration and love for her man. It's amazing to watch. Rupert Friend and Mandy Patinkin were fantastic as well.
