I love Friday Night Lights. But it's kind gives me mixed feelings about the movie because I'm an even bigger fan of the TV Series. No matter how many times I see the movie, it still throws me for a loop seeing Connie Britton playing the same role as the Coach's wife, but a different character (Sharon Gaines instead of Tami Taylor). Same goes for Brad Leland (John Aubrey instead of Buddy Garrity). Beyond playing different named characters, it's just insanely weird at how very little Connie does in the movie. She is more of eye candy than anything else. Leave it to the TV series to really give her something great. It did afterall make her career.

As for the movie itself, I think Billy Bob Thornton is solid here as the coach. I like that this isn't an over the top performance like Bad News Bears. The same can be said for everyone involved. This is indeed a movie, but it kind of played like documentary in a way, which is also how the TV Series played as well. Also good was Lucas Black and Derek Luke. Love how the movie was edited together, especially the Championship Game. The movie is definitely worth a Rent.
