I believe I first caught wind of Good Ol' Freda via the trailer on the Blackfish DVD. It was news to me because A) I didn't know there was another Beatles documentary out for consumption and B) Who the hell was Freda? Having just watched the movie, Freda is awesome! She was the secretary to the biggest band in the world. Now, I know you're probably saying to yourself "Really? They are now making documentaries through a Secretary?". Settle down. This is a fantastic documentary and offers insight into the madness surrounding the four lads from Liverpool and this wasn't any secretary either. Through watching the film, you see just how instrumental she was in their lives that she is more or less adopted by Paul, Ringo, George and John's family as one of their own. The daughter they never had. I found these stories in particular to quite illuminating, not just for her...but for the guys as well.

If you are a music lover, you will definitely enjoy this. Beatle fans will definitely take a shine to the film and of course to Freda. She is immensely likable and fiercely loyal, which you will come to see for yourself and goes a long way to explaining why most people, myself included have never heard of her until this doc came out. I highly recommend this as a Rent. Great music to underscore the key moments in the film and they aren't just Beatles songs either. Be sure to stick to the credits for a cameo. Speaking of credits, the opening credits reminded me of one of my short films that I made years ago and the way they did theirs was how I approached mine. Very similar stuff and dare I say....very cool.  ;D

I heard about several times. It appears to me of mining the Beatles legacy for everything it worth. It just appears, desperate?

Now I might check it out

That was my original thought process....that they are getting desperate to mine anything Beatles related. This doc is more than that. It's HER story and it's great. Would I watch this again? Absolutely. She's more than a secretary, she's is for all intents and purposes....family.
