Okay, I gotta tell you about this flick I saw the other day. It was one of the many Korean series in my queue that I had been putting off, but it was about to expire so I checked it out. I thought it was a movie. Oh no, it was a series. A three-episode miniseries, each "episode" (about an hour and ten minutes long) was like a stand-alone movie, so it was like getting a whole action trilogy.
The action was UNBELIEVABLE, there were about two or three fight scenes in each episode, each different... and there's some pretty brutal stuff. Lots of blood. It's quite unusual after being flooded with PG-13 action movies as the standard to see buckets of blood everywhere (it's also weird because this is KOREAN TV, where there's barely ever even any kissing (it's a "mom controls the remote" culture over there), and in this there's practically ****o-quality nudity in at least two episodes.
The blood is also weird because this is so clearly a comic book series, it feels like a mash of Wanted, La Femme Nikita, Kite... but with real actors. I can't imagine any action series in American TV working like this, which makes it an interesting little artifact.
And screencaps, I gotta show you what this thing looks like. It's bright and colourful, kind of a weird mix between cinematic and telelvisual. Everyone in the show had these MASSIVE plasma screens, and I can't imagine what this series would look like on one of those.
And another reason I gotta show you the caps: I am in freakin' LOVE with this girl, Han Groo.
