Been reading this all afternoon, I'll postpone a thoughtful review for when it's done and I'm more clear headed, so all I'll say is...

Chip!
This is Halt And Catch Fire.
It's Halt And Catch Fire but about Sega Genesis and it's freaking real.
You should read this.
Don't wait for the documentary.
Don't wait for the movie.
Get this book and read it.

Just put this on my Hold List with the Library. Thanks. So, there is a doc/movie coming for this?

I only heard about Console Wars on the recommendation from Neumatic and the fact that he was able to use Halt and Catch Fire as a prime example is what got me to check out the book. I do agree that it exactly like the series and more. You guys know that I'm a gamer through and through. I was raised on Arcade games and I've had a number of consoles over my lifetime: Atari 2600, Colecovision, Playstation 2 and Xbox 360. Ironically though, the two systems I've never owned or played is what this book is about: Nintendo Vs. Sega. Even though I was over and done with gaming during this particular time in history, I was aware of what was happening. It was unavoidable, the commercials were everywhere at the time. I'm glad I got a chance to catch up on the behind the scenes stuff as it was all new to me. I am looking forward to the eventual movie, but I really hope they take this serious. My concern is that since Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg are exec producing it, they might have the idea to turn it into a dumb-down comedy. I hope it's more along the lines of.....Halt and Catch Fire. A good reason from end to end. Worth a Rent from the Library if you are into how business' are run or if you are a gamer.
