Since we are tracking Star Wars: Episode VIII, it only makes sense that we do the same for Rogue One.

Rogue One Trailer Close to Airing — Tone is Dark (https://www.yahoo.com/movies/report-rogue-one-trailer-close-165822354.html)

This is fun having all these Star Wars flicks filming simultaneously. I'm going to get spoiled over this.

Now that I finished watching Star Wars The Force Awakens (http://pennycan.createaforum.com/dvd's-blu-rays/star-wars-episode-vii-the-force-awakens-(2015)/msg37389/#msg37389), I was finally able to sit down and watch Rogue One Trailer and Holy Sh*t! That looks f*cking awesome. I want more!! No one else has an opinion on this? You guys are f*cking Trekkies!! Pfftt!!! Star Wars for the win!!!! I really shouldn't be watching this trailers but the temptations is just too great for me to withstand. I'm weak.

Stephen Colbert broke down the Rogue One trailer.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2B9PUiVL0cc

"I'm used to waiting ten years for a Star Wars movie.  Twenty for a good one!"

I will admit that I was really thrown by the fact they were running around in a subway station.  And not just any station, the one under Canary Wharf, which is a pretty well known and busy place.  It's sort of like Kings, where they would film in the New York Public Library and try to pass it off as the palace.  We know it's not!

Thanks for posting Colbert's reaction. I had to put that on the back-burner until I got around to watching the Full Trailer. Gonna go watch this now......

FYI, the idea of getting a new Star Wars film once a year is both scary and exhilarating at the same time. I never thought I'd be in the position of finishing one Star Wars flick and then having a new Trailer immediately to consume. Awesome.

I remember when Iron Man came out, and at the end there was that bit about The Avengers initiative.  Well for YEARS I was the one fielding everyone's questions about "what's the Avengers Initiative, what does that mean, who is that?"  Until The Avengers movie came out.  And NOW the cycle is going to start all over again with these, "the black stormtrooper in this wasn't the black stormtrooper from the last one," "so Darth Vader's not dead after all?" "is it the same walking fridge every time?" "so was that planet really earth?" etc etc

Man, I can't wait to see Rogue One! We are finally going to get the story of the Rebels that steal the battle plans for the Death Star leading into the events of A New Hope!!! When I first heard about these Anthology Films they were going to do, I wasn't entirely sure I'd be on board. But the more I think about all the stories that we have been told about in passing, the more it make sense to have this. I want to see these!!

I'm real curious if this will have an opening crawl.
Title: Re: Star Wars: Rogue One (2016)
Post by: Chiprocks1 on April 10, 2016, 12:35:41 am
I wouldn't see why not. It's all in the same universe. Besides, the Prequels have the Opening Crawls and Rogue One takes place between the end of Revenge of the Sith and the start of A New Hope.
Title: Re: Star Wars: Rogue One (2016)
Post by: Neumatic on April 10, 2016, 12:36:52 am
But it's not an Episode.  And while it takes place in the Star Wars universe, it isn't following the aesthetic of the Episodes either, it's doing it's own thing.
Title: Re: Star Wars: Rogue One (2016)
Post by: Chiprocks1 on April 10, 2016, 12:40:13 am
You do have a point, but my money is on them using the same Crawl for every single flick that comes out with Star Wars in the title, whether is small or large.

Star Wars artist Phil Noto couldn't resist making this little tribute to Rogue One... in part because he wants to do the comic adaptation.  I say let him.

Heads Up: Jar Jar Binks Could Be in Rogue One

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0noHnhVeAb8

Oh hell NO!!!!!
Rogue One is being touted as 'Darker' than your average Star Wars flick. How can that be so if you have the biggest zit in the universe anywhere in this movie? It would undermine the very thing they are trying to sell to the public.

Reports suggest that Disney aren't happy with Rogue One, order reshoots (http://entertainment.ie/cinema/news/Reports-suggest-that-Disney-arent-happy-with-Rogue-One-order-reshoots/381544.htm)

I wonder if the re-shoots have anything to do with Disney wanting to find a role for Mickey Mouse to play in the Star Wars universe. Gotta love product placements out in space.

Disney Watered Down Darth Vader Scene In Rogue One: A Star Wars Story (http://wegotthiscovered.com/movies/disney-watered-down-darth-vader-scene-in-rogue-one-a-star-wars-story/)

Well, my biggest fear of Disney running Star Wars is now unfolding. THIS is what I expected when news broke that they had acquired Star Wars. I knew that they would end up neutering the franchise to "fit in with their family ideals". Look, the franchise has never been 'dark' in spite of its mythology, but I don't like the idea that now no writer or director is ever going to be able to go there because they have to cater to Disney Bosses who fear "alienating" kids. This is not good.

Maybe it's perception. Disney does have it's dark side... just not blatant. Many of Disney stories have parents that get killed off, evil witches, etc. Granted, they are sugar coated but Disney rarely tells a straight up everything is good story.

ah,  whatevah... they may **** it up.

I know that Rogue One's story takes place before the events of A New Hope, but what I want to know is just how far separated they are from one another. In my mind, all I see is Rogue One running concurrently to that of A New Hope. I'm actually expecting to see C3-PO and Artoo in the background of at least one scene just to tie both together. I'm not expecting any kind of interaction with the new cast and the droids. What I've envisioned is that the new cast or Felicity Jones' character is doing something mundane in the foreground and waaaaaaaaaay in the background you see the droids come into and out of the frame. For example, Jones is being interrogated by a Stormtrooper and far off in the distance, you see Luke, Ben and the droids walking into Mos Eisley Cantina. It's a bit of cheesy fan service, but it would be awesome to see play out and I can imagine the packed theater going ape-sh*t with excitement that happens.  ;D

Admit it, this is the coolest idea yet to drop for Rogue One. An Evil "Twin" of Artoo. What I want to see happen is a dueling chess match as Artoo takes on his doppelganger Twin in a race against time as he must outwit his opponent to.......oh wait, Artoo isn't in Rogue One. Never mind. Well, there's always Episode 8.  ;)

Rogue One: A Star Wars Story (2016) - Official Final Trailer

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vD19Ulth7l8

I've really enjoyed all the trailers we have gotten for Rogue One and this might be my favorite. It looks amazing. But I'm getting worried that they may have shown too much (i,e. all the best stuff). I just don't want this to not deliver and I'm building this up too much that I may end up being letdown by the final cut of the film. PLEASE DON'T SUCK!

This goes without saying. Never at any one time did I ever expect a sequel giving the nature and timeline of the story itself. I do however expect one or two characters to survive the events that transpire and will move onto other Star Wars Stories moving forward. I definitely expect to see Jyn Erso as one of the survivors.

Rogue One Review (Non-Spoiler)

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_IOs9i64mmo&t=419s

I'm hearing a lot of great things about the movie for those that got to see it a week to a few days earlier than the Wide Release. It's very encouraging that so many people are digging the film. I've only stuck to non-spoiler reviews on YouTube. But that will prove to be very hard to avoid once the average fan starts posting their own thoughts. Now I must dig a hole, crawl into it, bury myself and wait it out and avoid as best as I can.
