I really wanted to like Self/less because the premise is actually intriguing. The 'Body Swapping' plot isn't new. It seems to get new life every couple of years but every time we get one, it's more of the same and it's never done in the Thriller genre, always in Comedies.  As for Self/less, there was so much potential to make this a smart and rewarding story given the players involved here, but in the end they took the idea and just glossed over everything that was needed to elevate this to something it deserved to be. In reality, this is on par with Direct-to-DVD releases. Very clunky writing, bad dialogue, paper thin characters and the pacing was off in a lot of places. Everyone involved (Ryan Reynolds, Natalie Martinez, Matthew Goode, Victor Garber, Derek Luke, and Ben Kingsley) was wasted. With that said, if you do check this out, you will stick to the end just to see how it turns out. But you are likely to spend the bulk of your time watching this "rewriting" or correcting everything there is story wise. But yeah, for me, this is a Skip. The one cool thing about the casting was seeing Michelle Dockery and Goode in the same movie, although they never shared screen time together. So, this was the closet you would get to Downton Abbey.

Hmmm, I saw this, but forgot I did, and now I remember why. Just what you reviewed. Didn't even take time to write anything down.
