I'm kind of at odds in how I view Mockingjay Part 2. Yes, this installment is way better than Part 1 which infuriated me because that one was nothing more than filler to prolong the franchise and squeeze out another payday with no intent of furthering the story and leaving everyone hanging with what can be called a sh*tty "ending". So, Part 2 really didn't have much to do to improve over that. As a stand alone flick from everything else, it was a decent 2 hours. But here's where I have issues with the movie and the series as a whole. It never lived up to the hype. With each new installment that came out, the hype kept increasing, trying to make this more than it actually was.  All the promise the first flick hinted at never really materialized. In a way, it was all down hill from that moment on and made the next 3 installments a bit of a slog through mud. I've heard that most do in fact like the series and are satisfied with Part 2 and how they wrapped it all up. But I for one want a lot more from the movies I choose to invest time in. In hindsight, had I known what this series would serve up, I would have skipped it all together. With that said, at least this one had more eye candy when it came to FX and some cool set pieces as well. The Mutt's in the Sewer attack was done very well and reminded me a lot of Aliens. If we only got more of that throughout, my opinion of the series would probably be more forgiving. This scene alone is worth a Rent for sure.
