Sixteen Candles may be about Samantha Baker (Molly Ringwald) and her crush on Jake Ryan (Michael Schoeffling), but you and I know who the real star of the movie is. The Geek. Farmer Ted. Whatever you call him, just know that Anthony Michael Hall became a huge star after this one. Most people don't give him enough credit for having a comedic touch in selling his lines in a funny manner while not being hammy in the process. The kid really did have the stuff to back it up.

Another priceless character here is also Long Duk D0ng played by Gedde Watanabe. I swear, he gets funnier with each viewing. Is his portrayal politically incorrect? Who cares. It's a comedy. It's meant to be funny. If we have to curtail everything we write so as not to offend, this would be a pretty boring place to live.

Gotta show some love for Joan Cusack. Another priceless role. Who knew she would go onto bigger and better things in the future, Although she did have a much bigger role in My Bodyguard, which was 4 years earlier. So, she kind of went backwards here if you think about it, yet created a lasting image that still stands today. Such a shame that her brother John never amounted to anything after this. So many quotes that you can easily recognize.

I own it already, so you know that I'm gonna say this is a definite Buy.
