I'm late to the party, but at least I'm here. Clearing the decks of some pretty bad shows this season, opened up a slot for Revenge. I gotta say I'm really impressed with just the Pilot alone. They set it up nicely and give you enough back-story to reel you in. I've been avoiding spoilers so I have no idea where this is going. But I can say that I like the characters populating the series, especially Emily.

Looking at the Title Card for Revenge, it finally hit me that the letter "G" in the word, the one that looks like an "8", is the Infinity symbol that that Emily has tattooed on her wrist, the one that her Father taught her as a kid. Well, it's not the full Infinity plus Infinity symbol tattoo, but you get the picture.

I forgot to mention right after watching the Pilot (actually, within the first few minutes of said episode)...
This show is AWESOME! With all the conniving, plotting and manipulating going on at the hands of Emily (Emily VanCamp), it reminds me a lot of the original Melrose Place and I loved that show. Anyway, with Trust, it just confirmed what I figured would be the formula of the show, based on the Pilot. From the start Emily has a Group picture of all who were complicit in framing her Father. At the end of the episode, once Emily has exacted her revenge on one unlucky person, they get a nice big fat red X over their face. I'm sure this is how it will play out for the remainder of the season.
Trust was really good and I'm enjoying all the characters so far, even the whiny, needy Nolan Ross (Gabriel Mann). The only character that I really don't like so far, as she seems pointless is Emily's friend Ashley (Ashley Madekwe). I really dig the flashback scenes in the way they are presented and the young Amanda (Emily Alyn Lind) drives home the importance of what she lost when her Father was taken away from her. The ending is always awesome, to see how Emily sets up her plots for revenge and in this case we get to see how she did it with Harmon. Bwaahahahaha. Pretty big reveal at the end...
I wonder if Emily really has an attraction to Daniel (Joshua Bowman) at all and that this is just part of her set up to take down Victoria. But I can't tell. She seems to have feelings for Jack Porter (Nick Wechsler) a friend of hers from her past. But she is also exhibiting something sincere for Daniel as well. If it turns out to be manipulation on her part, then she would literally give Amanda Woodward (Heather Locklear / Melrose Place) a run for her money.

Another fantastic episode all around, but the revenge plot was kind of a let down. It was missing that public humiliation that should have been at the forefront when taking down the shady lawyer, now running for Public Office. Sure, Emily got what she wanted in forcing his hand at withdrawing from the race at the Benefit Dinner. But he was able to save face. It just lacked that kick-in-the-balls moment I was expecting.
I'm really fascinated with the story they are unfolding with Victoria. I really don't know what to expect now because it was revealed that she had a full blown love affair with Amanda/Emily's father. And the ending said a lot about her feelings for him in that she is still wearing the earrings he gave her. I gotta point out that Emily needs to be a little more discreet. A) She needs a better "hiding" spot for the Infinity Box. Anyone can stumble onto the contents of the box, exposing what she is doing and B) She needs to draw a line between her and Nolan. He is always hanging around at the house at the oddest times. Do this enough times and it's going to really look suspicious in what their connection to each is. And with Victoria having the P.I. tailing Emily, it's only a matter of time before he starts to piece the puzzle together.

With Dr. Banks being kidnapped and stuck into a storage container, it made me realize that Emily, outside of Nolan, is working with someone else, someone that actually can physically kidnap the Doctor. Even though Emily was standing outside of the container later, listening to her wailing, I still can't see her as being the one that actually did the kidnapping. So, it has to be a 3rd member to pull this off. My guess was Frank, the P.I. that works for Victoria.

Some pretty clever writing here that further opens up what we the viewer get to see and that can actually be used down the road for blackmail or whatever at a later time. Having Nolan plant the camera in Emily's house and then having her pack it up and sent off to Lydia, unbeknownst to her that it's a camera literally gives Nolan the holy grail of video blackmail when it catches....
Boy, was I ever wrong about Frank. I'm wrong about all of my theories regarding this series. Now that he has been dispatched, he seems to be on the right track, trailing Emily. This is getting good. I was a bit surprised to find out that Lydia is still alive, albeit in a coma. But still.... And FYI, I hate that little douche Tyler, such a slimy lil bastard. Did he just try to make a move on Daniel after giving him a roofie? Is his whole agenda predicated on the fact that he's got a man-crush on him and can't handle the fact that he is with Emily?

It seems that Emily was smart enough to find a real hiding place for the Infinity Box when Frank was snooping around her place. A lot of maneuvering going on with a lot of the players in this one. Nolan calls out Tyler on which "team" he plays for and then promptly gets what he wants out of it. Frank digs a little deeper and finds Amanda (the real Emily) working at a strip club and paid for it with his life (I think he is dead. I also made that assumption about Lydia and was way off). Ashley's true colors came out tonight when she learned that Tyler broke into Conrad's office to get information that will help his career and Ashley didn't have a problem with it. It seems that she does have a purpose on the show after all.
Pretty cool to see CCH Pounder in the role of Emily's former Warden. It's pretty interesting how deep this is going if a Warden is willing to further Emily's con even more withput batting an eyelash. Overall, another winning episode.

Did anyone really think for one second that the real Emily Thorne was gonna hop on a plane and live happily ever after in Paris? I think not. With her deciding to stick around, this is only going to fan the flames of an already volatile situation. And what makes it even better is that she is sticking around for Jack Porter. This definitely adds a new level of intrigue about her since she knows all about Emily's (Amanda) feelings for Jack. She is definitely looking to stir things up now that she has seen Emily 2.0 with Daniel. Jealousy is the order of the day. I'm a little unclear about what side of the plate she swings from. Not really sure if she is a Lesbian or Bi. It's clear that she's got some serious stalker-ish feelings for Emily 2.0 which points to her being a Lesbian. But when Jack was poolside with her earlier in the day, there was some serious flirting going on between the two.
I've already forgotten who was in the Pilot when the body on the beach is discovered. So I will throw this out there as if I've never seen the first episode and say that the dead body is none other than Tyler. He is playing a very dangerous game, one that will make a lot of enemies. I can see him getting whacked for sure.

The real Emily Thorne has got some serious balls to turn it around on Amanda and make a play for Jack by passing herself off as Amanda. Now getting rid of her is going to become a bigger obstacle without arousing suspicion with Jack. I've been trying to stay ahead of the curve and figure things out before it happnes, and yet...I never thought of this particular angle.
I knew Nolan was setting up Tyler for something, but it was a little out of left field that Ashley walked in on the two of them at just the right time. Very interesting to see that Emily 2.0 is getting training from Satoshi, although it does feel like it's heading down the path of Kill Bill. Tyler (Ashton Holmes) creeps the hell out of me. I can't stand him, yet he is by far the most interesting character on the show. He is predictable in how he will react to roadblocks that keep getting in his way and yet you can't but have glee when you see it play out just as you predicted it would.. This is definitely the role of a lifetime for Ashton. I first took notice of him when he was on Nikita during it's first season. He really didn't have much to do on that show and I was kind of expecting more of the same in Revenge, But the guy continues to knock it out of the park each week and has become the true breakout star of the series.
I still think he is the one that gets whacked on the beach as seen in the Pilot episode. With each passing week, he is making more enemies which of course increases his odds of catching that bullet. My money is on Nolan as the trigger man. Too obvious yes, but that's what the writers are probably expecting the viewer to think.

Although this was a good episode, I felt somewhat cheated. This was the first episode since before the Xmas break and I was expecting something along the lines of the best the series has to offer. But for me, having Tyler (Ashton Holmes) come unhinged and take over Daniel's Birthday party at gunpoint only to be thwarted at the end by being distracted at his brothers presence was a bit of a letdown. Even though he was hauled off in handcuffs by the police, you can be sure he will return by the end of the season if not sooner. I still say he is the one that gets popped at the end on the beach.
I'm also gonna throw this out there. I'm gonna say that it will be revealed that Emily 2.0 (the real Amanda Clarke) real mother is Victoria Grayson (Madeleine Stowe). Yep, that means Emily is sleeping with her own....half brother. Ewwwww. The flashback sequence shows us that Victoria and David Clarke (James Tupper) had a relationship during the whole beach sequence during the time of the frame job. But what if Victoria gave the baby up for adoption and only started the affair with David later to get closer to Amanda, knowing she was her daughter. Who knows. This is a fricking soap opera after all. But there is definitely something brewing with the writers to come up with a twist for the season finale. What better way than to have it turn out that she is her mother, putting the kibosh on Emily's revenge plot? It could happen. I'm only throwing this out there because I can't remember it being mentioned about what happened to Amanda's birth mother since it's been all about avenging her father so far.
Also, I think Victoria's lawyer Ryan Huntley (James McCaffrey) is working for Conrad and setting her up with that fake miscarriage document. It wouldn't faze me to see Conrad pulling out the big guns to make sure she goes down and gets nothing in the divorce proceedings. Having said that, the whole "miscarriage" thing kind of leads me to believe that Victoria faking that she had one is the perfect set up to reveal that Victoria is Amanda's mother. The writers will obviously have to come up with a scenario that has her jetting off somewhere for 9 months to hide her pregnancy from Conrad, have the baby, give baby up for adoption and then return back home to Conrad and his money.

This is the kind of episode that I love and was sorely missing from last week's meltdown of Tyler. There was a pretty big reveal at the end of Infmay that more or less puts the kibosh on my theory of Victoria being Emily's Mother. It's hinted at that David Clarke (James Tupper) is the father of Charlotte, which would make her Emily's half sister. I knew that there would be some sort of family ties to the Graysons. They just went a different way in getting there. If it hasn't been clear yet while watching Revenge...don't f uck with Emily!! Or this will happen.....

Another awesome episode that just keeps getting better and better and to make it even better still, fake Amanda (Margarita Levieva) is apparently leaving town for her safety. She annoys me and I'm glad she will be gone for awhile, even though I know she will return for obvious reasons.
I really don't see how there is any way that Jack will forgive either Emily or Amanda for their deception. Yes, they both love him, but in the end he is going to feel like the biggest idiot in the world when the secret finally surfaces and all the cards are on the table. Poor guy. We all know who broke into Emily 2.0 house and stole whatever it was out of from beneath the floorboards. That would be Amanda 2.0. Maybe. Maybe not. Where is Ashley in all of this? She has been more wall scenery than anything else and having her suddenly come across this vital information would make her in a major power player in all of this. Declan is turning out to be the most useless character on the show. What is his purpose other than to get Charlotte out of the house? I dunno.

A 4 Star Episode gets a half star bump when they reveal at the end who killed Tyler. I don't know why I never thought to think that he could have been one of the suspects. Interesting. Well, we also get confirmation that Nolan and Satoshi Takeda do have a past relationship and are working together.
Also, it's about damn time they start utilizing Ashley for something other than fetching coffee. Now I see that she is going to be a major player for the rest of the season. Knock on wood.

I am curious to see how they keep the show going though, because at some point, it will be harder for Emily to remain behind the scenes. Still, I do wonder about the Japanese guy, and why he seems intent on having her complete her revenge. Why should he care at all?

Satoshi Takeda is a very interesting character. There is a lot more going on with him then what we've been given so far and I am curious to see exactly how far back his connection to Nolan goes. Did they know each other even before the frame job? Does Satoshi have a personal vendetta or ax to grind with Victoria or Conrad? There are so many ways this show could go and it would still have a great pay-off at the end.
I'm guessing once Emily's secret has come out, someone else would take up the reigns of seeking out their own personal revenge. Or it may just become something else all together.

I am also curious how David Clarke knew Satoshi. He seemed like a nice guy, above board and all. Why would he have known a guy like Satoshi, and why would he know that Satoshi would provide the means for revenge? I think that Nolan knows a lot more than he is letting on. After all, he just appears and has access to all of David Clarke's stuff and secrets, and he doesn't know anything else? Also, we can't even be sure what his agenda is in all this. We know he is lonely without friends, but why would he risk his neck over and over again when he has no interest in the revenge scheme? Unless he does somehow...and maybe that will be revealed later on.

I was thinking earlier in the season that we the viewer are getting such a rosy picture of David Clarke and began to think this "image" being projected onto us is a false and a Red Herring and that he isn't as "innocent" as we are meant to believe. Was he framed from the whole terrorist angle? Yes. But does he have something else in his closet that he is definitely guilty of? If I'm a betting man, I'd say hell yeah. There has to be something at the end that's going to question everything that Emily has been leading up to. And maybe this skeleton ties directly into Satoshi background and would be the perfect arc to kick off Season 2.
As for Nolan, I have been trying to crack what he is getting out of all of this. As you pointed out, there is definitely something brewing with his backstory. What it is, I have no idea.

Welcome back Revenge! It's been way too long since the last episode and is a bone of contention with me toward ABC. They have really dropped the ball in not having a consistent run for the series. I can cut them a little slack because I'm sure that even ABC didn't realize what they had on their hands and how popular the show would become. But they really need to address this for next season and go along the lines of 24 and Lost. Film at least 3/4 of the season, delay the start of the season till January and then run the entire season in one shot with no breaks. Having these extended breaks kills momentum and in some cases....series. Flashforward anyone? Another ABC series that bit the dust.
Anyway, Doubt was a nice return and it picked up right where it left off. I wasn't shocked to see Victoria set up a situation with her thug to set in motion to have Daniel attacked in prison, all in the hopes that it would get him out of prison and back home under house arrest. Really cool to see Roger Bart return as Mason Treadwell. His character is just too good not to bring back. He can do more damage than anyone else on the show with the exception of Emily of course. And now that he's got in his head that Victoria burned down his house, he's gonna really up his A-Game to stick it to her. And speaking of Emily, she is such a bad ass, kicking Thug's ass at the end. Dropped him easily. BAM!

It's been a long break between episodes, so my memory is a bit hazy, but I think the Thug was the one hired to retrieve the Amanda tapes and subsequently beat up Jack in the process. That's why she says "This is for Jack" when the ass kicking began. Yes, it does bring unwanted attention to her and her plans. But s h i t happens in the heat of the moment.........

There is good and there is bad about this episode. First the bad. Although I liked the idea of Emily framing the Thug with the bloody hoody to save Jack, I think having him killed soon after being arrested was the wrong way to go. We just bypassed a lot of fun blackmailing that could have made Victoria ****. Now that they have a suicide note from Thug "confessing to killing" Tyler, that means that Daniel will have all charges dropped against him and set free. Although I didn't want the second half of this season to turn into a court room drama, I did think it warranted at least a couple of episodes before using this angle.
And now the good about the episode. Thank God the whole Trial will be averted. Yes, I know, I'm contradicting myself with the above statement. But ever since Daniel was arrested and this was nothing but Trial prepping, the show had already come to a standstill. We weren't getting what most people have tuned into the show to see: Emily doing her thang. Now that this part of the arc has been reseolved, Emily can get back to doing just that. Kicking ass.
I know they had to speed up Daniel's release faster than normal because the story had to move forward with the HUGE revelation at the end when Emily disovers that Conrad Grayson murdered her father in prison. If Emily wasn't motivated before, she certainly will be now. She's gonna have blood lust from here on out for sure.

Um...I don't think that Emily had The Thug killed, I think the Graysons did. And she does still have the witness tampering she can throw at them later on if the need arises, but so far, Emily hasn't really killed anyone, she has only made them wish they were dead. As we have now learned, the Graysons have killed people to keep their secrets. I get the feeling that Emily's plan to ruin the Graysons will not happen through Daniel's trial, but in unraveling their secrets from when they framed her dad.

Really good episode and one that finally lays out all the cards. I wasn't expecting to ever see Conrad do a confessional of his crimes regarding to David Clarke and the the Thug. I for sure thought that Daniel was going to come clean and air his family's dirty laundry on the air. I don't know why I did because that would have pretty much ended everything right then and there. In hindsight, it's no wonder that Daniel would side with his father.
I really liked the twist and reveal about who Carol Miller is. Right when I saw that Nolan was in the picture with her, I immediately shouted out HE's HER SON! DAVID AND CAROL HAD AN AFFAIR AND 9 MONTHS LATER NOLAN WAS BORN! As soon as I said that, Nolan shot down that theory by saying she was her Aunt. I was so certain that they were gonna reveal Nolan and Amanda to be Half-Sibling. Oh well....
During the Prison Riot on the day that Clarke was murdered, the 'white-haired' guy looked to be James Morrison, better known to the world as Bill Buchanan from 24 fame. It looked like him, but I wasn't 100% certain. The grainy picture at the end does in fact look to be him. Gotta wait till Emily tracks him down to confirm since I am avoiding all spoilers and refusing to read anything about Revenge.

With the exception of the final scene, Legacy is told entirely in one long flashback, based on a letter that Roger, a friend and witness to David Clarke's innocence, gave to Emily. The bulk of this episode centers around the infamous New Year's Eve Party. If your memory is a bit hazy, it's the party that had Amanda photographed at, the same one that Lydia tried to expose Amanda and Emily as one and the same. It was cool to see all the people that Emily would eventually bring down, together in one setting. Roger is a new key to the puzzle. I can't remember if they ever mentioned his character before in passing. The long hiatus didn't help.
Really interesting to see where Amanda's head was at the time and how irrational she was and who didn't have a handle on her emotions, like she does now, save for that one beatdown on the Thug. Really bizarre seeing Jack with long hair. Crazy wig!! There was one unintentional funny moment in this episode. As mentioned, it's all in flashbacks and there was a scene were she has a flashback to when she was a kid. So, a flashback within a flashback......
I coulnd't help but not think of the SNL skit with Justine Bateman doing the Family Ties Flashback gag with Victoria Jackson as Tina Yothers. YEEEEEEAH! Awesome!!

What a sad episode. Watching Emily and Jack first coming to the realization that Sammy had just for a minutes left and then saying their goodbye's was gut wrenching. I thought for sure Emily was going to tell Jack that she was in fact Amanda, which would explain why Sammy kept going back to her over and over. Sure, telling the secret wouldn't make sense within the show right now.
The ending wasn't a total surprise. I was expecting the "White-haired" Guy (James Morrison) to show up at Nolan's house and take him down. As for Daniel, he has really turned out to be a total douche, just like his father Conrad. Not a surprise at all. It was expected. But the transformation in the last couple episodes has been sped up in anticipation of the Season Finale.

As a Revenge episode, this was good. But as a Season Finale it was pretty soft. I was expecting something along the lines of 45 minutes of non-stop epic showdowns that never really materialized. It wasn't until the last few minutes does anything meaningful really happen and that was only just to set up next seasons arc. I feel kind of cheated in that there was no resolution or something that I can hang my hat on after investing time for all of Season 1.
Think about it this way. The showdown between Emily and Gray-Hair man failed to deliever on any level. Other than a short fist fight......she lets him walk away. Yeah, I know, Emily isn't a killer and she let him live because her father wouldn't want her to go down that road. But still, this scene didn't do anything for me.
Also, the "showdown" between Emily and Victoria, what the entire season was built on....left me cheated as well. Victoria confronts Emily to gloat about her breakup with her son and the whole empty wedding gift she gave her. No retaliation on Emily's part. No "I'm Amanda Clarke, you f u c k i n g b i t c h "!. Nothing. To say I was disapointed is an understatement.
Onto the good stuff...namely the last 5 minutes.
Amanda returns to claim Jack with bun in the oven, which takes away Emily getting the chance to tell Jack who she is and what she really feels about him. I was expecting something along the lines of how it played out. But I for one am not convinced it's Jack's baby. It wouldn't shock me to find out that it's Satoshi Takeda, since he was the last person to see her before her sudden return.
The plane carrying Victoria and Lydia explodes in a fiery attempt to keep a lid on Conrad's secret. I actually expected this long before it happened when he offered the use of his plane to Lydia. Personally, I don't think Victoria is dead. The way she was looking at the plane just prior to getting on board tells me she knew what was coming which tells me that this was being used as a way to fake her death. Besides, killing her off before Emily and Victoria do have that epic confrontation that I talked about earlier would undermine the entire series. It is after all the sole objective for Emily and for the show itself existing. Also, I am aware that the White-Haired Man was seen leaving the plane. But I stand by my "she still is alive" theory.
The apparent overdose by Charlotte at the end is going to turn out to be nothing more than a cry for help when Season 2 starts up.
The last scene with Emily and Nolan provides the biggest bombshell for the show, but it wasn't a shock for me because I had thought about the "Where is Amanda's mother" angle near the start of the season. Even though she was "dead", I wasn't buying it. If they are not on screen....then everyone and anyone is alive in my book.
All in all, a good episode...just not a great one. Also, they never explained what the Smoke Monster was.......(http://i74.photobucket.com/albums/i266/Chiprocks1/Smilies/0%20All%20Smilies/HTL_wink.gif)
I really enjoyed the entire season of Revenge. It's been a guilty pleasure all season long and one of the very rare "Must-See TV" shows for me this year where I HAD to watch it. I give it.......
