Cobra Kai (Season 3 - 2021)
5 Stars out of 5

Just got finished watching Season 3 and it exceeded my expectations. Not sure why it exceeded as I'm already a huge fan of the series and the first two seasons delivered in spades. I guess maybe I was expecting a drop off of sorts. There wasn't one at all. I do think that the fan-service cameos went a long way to elevate this season for me though. It was fantastic to see Tamlyn Tomita as Kumiko, Yuji Okumoto as Chozen Toguchi  and of course Elisabeth Shue as Ali Mills all returning. I literally could not stop smiling whenever any of the 3 were on screen. Tamlyn and Elisabeth still look amazing all these years later and Yuji was funny as f*ck in his cameo.

But all of them just reminded me why I love The Karate Kid series as much as I do. So what about the other half of the cast? They delivered too. That's the thing about Cobra Kai the Series. Every story line that is put forth to us is interesting and keeps you engaged, no matter how small a role may be. But lets jump to the Season Finale. That fight between Johnny and Kreese is a fight any fan of the movies has been waiting for. All it took was 35 years to get to and it more than delivered. Having Daniel get into the mix to save Johnny was a real crowd-pleasing moment. Loved it! As for the cliffhanger, it's obvious who Kreese is calling: Terry Silver. I was hopeful that he and Mike Barnes would show up last season. So, it's safe to say that Silver will be in Season 4. Jury is still out on Barnes being involved.

As for Shue...I really hope she comes back. But I don't think it's gonna happen given how her episode wrapped up. Never really thought she would be full time returning character. She really wouldn't have much to do moving forward. But damn, was it ever good to see her back as Ali.

Terminator: Dark Fate (2019)

What the f*ck did you just do James Cameron? Seriously, WHAT....THE.....****. I'm amazed that I was able to avoid all spoilers for Terminator: Dark Fate before I got the chance to sit down and watch it myself and needless to say, I was shocked....SHOCKED at how they opened the movie by killing off John Connor on screen. I never in a million years expected Cameron to go down this road and the reason why: Alien 3. Ya see, what made Aliens such a spectacular movie in its own right was the relationship forged between Ripley and Newt as she became Newt's defacto Mother as she did whatever it took to protect her. So, when they opened Alien 3 and we hear that Newt is dead, it really left a bad taste in my mouth because it basically rendered Alien and Aliens as a moot point. There was so much fan outcry for doing this that it basically crippled the series from here on out.

Fast forward to now and here we are again. I just for the life of me can't figured out why Cameron would write this given the fan backlash to them killing off Newt. As I remembered reading years ago, he himself was not happy how they chose to eliminate Newt. So this just begs the question of what was Cameron thinking doing the very same thing 30 years later. Honestly, they didn't have to kill him off in order to tell this new story. There can be multiple targets that are deemed threats to the Terminators in the future. You can still tell the story without basically wiping clean everything that came before. I dunno. Just....speechless.

Okay, with that out of the way, how does Terminator: Dark Fate play as a movie? If you're looking at it just as a movie unto itself, it's actually a fun movie. A lot of great action pieces and the story is as simple as it gets and easy to follow along. Great to see both Linda Hamilton and Arnold Schwarzenegger return in their respective roles. Also really like newcomers Mackenzie Davis, Natalia Reyes, and Gabriel Luna as the main storyline driving this movie. I can easily say this is the best Terminator movie since T2, without a doubt and would gladly add this to my personal DVD library. But it's just not sitting well with me how they started the movie. It was cool to see younger Sarah, John and Terminator in the scene though. Wasn't expecting to see a young Edward Furlong on screen ever again. 4 Stars out 5.

DVD's & Blu-rays / Spider-Man: Far From Home (2019)
« on: February 09, 2020, 06:14:30 pm »

So, I finally got to check out Spider-Man: Far From Home and it was kind of a letdown for me. That's not to say that this is a bad movie. Far from it. With the love I have for Homecoming, with the bar being set exceptionally high, I was expecting this one to not only match the first one, but to exceed it. Sadly, it doesn't even come anywhere near it. I don't know what it is about this one that kind of rubbed me the wrong way. But the thing that kept popping into my head is that this felt more like a TV movie, or more specifically, a "Special Episode" along the lines of send the gang to a far away location and see the insanity ensue. If I have to spell it out in clearer detail....think along the lines of The Brady Bunch go to Hawaii. Far From Home has some great moments, but it take awhile for it to really get rolling. Worth a Rent for sure, but not a movie that I would actually buy on DVD to add to my Library. 3 1/2 Stars out of 5.

What's Alan Rickman Jr. doing in this flick?
Pretty good short film. It's crazy how good Fan-man Star Wars films get each year.

Threat Level Midnight (Full Movie EXCLUSIVE)

The fact that dead Oscar is still blinking his eyes multiple times after the fact, just makes the scene even better and definitely Academy Award worthy. Make it happen.

This looks good. Goonies meets Ghostbuster. Love that this has nothing to do with that awful POS Ghostbusters movies from a few years. Love this is more "horror" based and not a comedy. I can't wait for this one.

Battle at Big Rock | An All-New Short Film | Jurassic World

Pretty good. I wouldn't call it a Short-Film in the traditional sense. It's too short. Should be in the 15-20 minute range. I think this is just a clever 'Teaser' Promo to show what the next installment in the Jurassic World franchise is going to be all about with the Dino's running around America.
