Ok, Ok, you could make an argument this should be under music because of the long shot association with Golden Throats, but seriously... this is plain bizarre

Television / Andy Whitfield (July 1972 – September 2011) - Spartacus
« on: September 12, 2011, 09:32:10 am »
I immediately latched onto watching Spartacus: Blood and Sand on Starz. A very interesting drama, that mimic'd 300 with lots more blood and lots more sex.

Andy Whitfield was Spartacus. He gave it power and depth. I remember hearing he was diagnosed with cancer and would not be up to reprising the role. Beyond that, I didn't think much and hoped in the back of my head, he's gonna be back.

The news of his death is very shocking. 39. My gawd.

Take care my good man. May God bring you light.

Off-Topic / In Memory of Dani...

In Memory of Dani…

First, I don’t want this thread to be a buzz kill. In fact the opposite. I want be people to be able to smile and have joy in their heart about my beautiful daughter Danielle.

Today, Dani would have been 26. I can only imagine what she would be like. Married? Career? Kids? I know what I have thought but that doesn’t matter anymore.

Dani was 12 years old when the accident happened. Mom driving her to her gymnastics class, across a very busy intersection that then did not have a light. Everything is burned into my brain the events that happened that night. Beyond that, I literally have no recollection of anything in the following year or so.
Dani was a petite girl with ambitions to dance and act and had a laugh that was infectious. I tried to help coach her softball team, but to her own desires, really wasn’t interested. She played one year for me but she wanted more girly things and that was so fine with me.

A phenomenal student and loved by many with several very close friends that I had the pleasure to have part of our family.

Dani and her brother were very tight. Sure they had their typical brother/sister differences and arguments, but they got along so well.  Maybe it was only the two year difference. Maybe they were so like each other. They were never a problem and I was proud of them.

In the beginning I had hatred towards God, but over time, while I still don’t know the ‘Why’, I’ve accepted the thinking that God cried too when she died.

Instead I look at it as God gave me this gift of this precious little girl and I was honored to be part of her life for 12 amazing years.

I would like to create another web site dedicated to my daughter… and son. Just post some pics and tell the world about my special little girl.
I completely and wholeheartedly believe Dani and Alex are the reasons I was put on earth.

So smile and know there is so much love for a beautiful girl that graced our presence, even if for a little while.

Looking to create a simple personal web site.
Not Facebook  >:(

I used to have Geocities way back when. Now I'm at Yahoo. They don't offer anything that I can tell.

Any free, simple hosting sites out there for this kind of stuff? Any suggestions would be appreciated.

I guess this is the most appropriate place. It's not a joke per se, but funny. I guess I could have put it under Art if we really stretch it...

"Yeah, that's not what I'm looking for"

Read through the whole exchange. You'll be grinning.

World War Z - Dec 12, 2012

So let's track this and see where it goes.  :)

I haven't read the book, but I've heard good stuff about it. Now being made into a major release with Brad Pitt, Mireille Enos,, James Badge Dale, Bryan Cranston

Quote
The story revolves around United Nations employee Gerry Lane (Pitt), who traverses the world in a race against time to stop the Zombie pandemic that is toppling armies and governments and threatening to decimate humanity itself. Enos plays Gerry’s wife Karen Lane; Kertesz is his comrade in arms, Segen.

The Thing (2011)

Quote
"Paleontologist Kate Lloyd (Winstead) has traveled to the desolate region for the expedition of her lifetime. Joining a Norwegian scientific team that has stumbled across an extraterrestrial ship buried in the ice, she discovers an organism that seems to have died in the crash eons ago. But it is about to wake up. When a simple experiment frees the alien from its frozen prison, Kate must join the crew’s pilot, Carter (Edgerton), to keep it from killing them off one at a time. And in this vast, intense land, a parasite that can mimic anything it touches will pit human against human as it tries to survive and flourish."

Directed by Matthijs van Heijningen Jr, The Thing is in theaters October 14th.

First, homey don't play that SyFy ****. Asshats.

So Riddick is just going jump start this thread for me.

The 3rd installment is coming to reality. Pre-production is at least rolling and that's what is happening now with the Vin Diesel and creator/director David Twohy behind the lens.

Chronicles of Riddick: Dead Man Stalking

Quote
Riddick franchise star Vin Diesel is back once again with more from the pre-production world of The Chronicles of Riddick: Dead Man Stalking, which is to once again be helmed by David Twohy. While also adding the following storyboard image (and confirming an R-rating), he also writes:

"While I was working on character, the Director and his team of artists have been creating the world and style of this picture. We all know how much I enjoy concept art and storyboards, haha, I am like a kid in a candy shop.

Seeing the early stage of CGI is always fascinating to me, it is a element that usually comes together long after the filming process, so you look forward to seeing it fully realized.

First stop for the Riddick production is Canada, which is where we shot a large part of Chronicles...

P.s. I am grateful to have Universal in such support of this complex character's journey... not many studios would back an "R" rating. Very cool."

Casting is underway although no shoot day is set in stone.

I'm excited. Hope this fully comes about. I didn't care too much for the direction Chronicles of Riddick took after the fresh vision of Pitch Black. But from early discussions, it looks like they learned from their mistakes and will get back to the core thinking like in Pitch Black.

Check out David Twohy's website.

Food / The Special for tonight...
« on: August 27, 2011, 03:10:43 pm »
We go out on our date night once a week, but this weekend, it's a triple. Thursday night we tried out a new restaurant downtown and loved it. Farmhaus, they specialize as a menu getting all their products from local farmers... except the fish.

One of the smaller places I've ever been in, but the focus was on the food. Small plates leaning towards Tapas, but a complete meal if you order enough.  :P

The food was nothing like I've had before.  We started off with...
Nachos
House made chips from local sweet potatoes, Salemville blue cheese, cherry wood
smoked house bacon lardoons, fire-roasted red pepper catsup

and

Conch Fritters
Grilled corn, jalapeno, Sriracha mayo

Awesome

then we went for the entree

Bacon Wrapped Meatloaf
Sweet and Yukon Gold smashed potatoes, sous vide pearl onions, tomato- merlot
reduction

We ended it with a variety of desserts including a Basil Ice Cream. By far an unusual taste. I liked it. The others not so much. Also deep fried Apple Pie... Double, Double chocolate fudge bar. Made my teeth sweat.
