Variety is the spice of life. Where would we be if we didn't cheapass low budget Z-rated flicks, but to only make us smirk and have guilty pleasures

I pretty much listen to everything all the time

but whats the first concert you went to?

The Beach Boys, as part of a double header after a Padres game.

Ha, I wanted my brother to experience a concert, so I took him to his first one. The Beach Boys. He thought they were amazing. The sound, the lights the stage. I laugh, because, well really, the beach boys have great music, but they sure don't do much on stage. Colored lights and few palm trees. Oh, and that's where he learned concerts where in stereo too.

Bad Co - Live At Wembley

Never tire of hearing a Bad Co. song come on the radio. They have grabbed the basic rock and blues soul of music and together with one of the best voices evah, Paul Rodgers, they have created a range of hits through the years that a joy to hear. The boys decided upon a reunion and we have here a capture of one of those nights. I’d like to watch the DVD of this sometime, but for now, just the music is fine. The recording is a little muddy, or so it seems. Maybe because I’m very use to the studio recordings. The keyboards I thought were missing, but actually they are muted to wall of sound vs standing out. I then have to ask myself, do I really want the studio sound reproduced here? Probably not. I’ll give it a few more listens and open my ears up a tad bit more.

Journey - Eclipse (ECL1P53)

Love, love, love Journey... of the past. Even the early years pre-Steve Perry.

The latest evolution of Journey consists of a youtube phenom Arnel Pineda, who does a damn good imitation of Steve Perry. The problem for me is Journey has set the bar so high and comparisons will be made. And I do compare. Arnel Pineda is good, but not great. With the slick production, it is even more apparent how Perry is missed. The songs written are more rock with emphasis on guitar. Very little keyboard work is present. This makes for a different sounding Journey. None of it is bad. Again, most every song is better than most crap put out today... but still I expect at least one song to grab me... that does not happen

PS: what's with the expensive CD?
