I'm really out of the loop with TV, so I didn't realize that Clark Duke was joining the cast (which is awesome), but I will say that there's something off-putting about the cast change that you're talking about.

I don't mind that we're getting a rotation of different characters and actors are leaving and so on because otherwise you have the same cast doing the same **** for a decade and that gets old, so I'm fine with Michael and Jan leaving and new people joining, but I think because I have this huge gap (I hadn't seen The Office since the Writer's Strike) I'm still stuck in the mindset of these characters being... not famous people.  I think of them as actors on this show but I'm still thinking "these are actors who come into an office building to act."  So seeing an actor I recognize from something else, even if it's just Tim Meadows all the way up to Jim Carrey, it feels strange to me, the integrity of that world has been violated somehow.  The fragile membrane of the office that allows the reality and the absurdity to co-exist feels threatened when an "actor" approaches.  Which somewhat ironically includes Ricky Gervais.  I loved James Spader as Robert California but it just felt **** WEIRD to me that he was on that show.  Why would JAMES SPADER go to an office building every day to act?

Does anyone else feel this way, or am I crazy?
